Default 80" fun fly

I bought the first 40 size edge profile made and I am going to buy the first 80" edge profile made if I can!!
Had some stick time on this sweet machine today.........All I can say is AWESOME
Mike, the designer has an OS 1.60FX and is a great combo. Hovers like a dream, 1/4 throttle high alfa knife edges, waterfalls are extreme for an 80"er and still floats in at a crawl for landing.

I should have a picture today, Mike's wife took a couple.

Can you tell I am excited????!!

Aero-works.net (I think) has a big profile fun fly. I saw it in an ad in MAN.

Don't know if it's THAT big, though! WOW! You could almost ride that thing!

Default Me too !

I gotta have one too !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please keep us updated on when and where to get one ! Looks like a must have.

I have been playing with the idea of blowing up a Morris Top Cap, but need to buy an engine first for my Yellow 120 Sukhoi, so therefore I can not spend any money on other stuff. Wife would kill me (she doesn't even know about the Sukhoi LOL)

Default 80" Profile

This is my Areo-works Profile Extra 300. It weights 10 1/2 lbs, is powered by a OS 160 with a Mac header and homemade muffler, turns a Zinger 20x6 prop at 8200 on the ground. The kit has a few tricky parts to build because it has to be built different than the plans but Aero-works will tell you what you need to know or I can. All in all the plane flies great and hovers very easy at about 1/3 power.

Default Giant Fun Flys

You might take a look at the Morris Giant Sudokoi. It's a lot of fun. Mine can be seen at http://www.geocities.com/flyhard66/Sudokoi.html

Default WOW!

Hey Mike....
Correct me if I'm wrong....but that motor in the pic sure looks like an RCS 1.40!!!

Any comments on the performance of a small gasser on this thing?

Where can I get plans.... who's going to kit this?
Looks totally sweet.....

Inquiring minds want to know....

FlyHard,

Checked out your web site...You're definitly a Morris Fan!
You know, there are more than three colors in the spectrum! Ha.

Kidding, they're gorgeous. If I send my 60 SuDoKhoi to you will you do the patriotic thing for me?

The kits were supposed to out already according to the designer but there was some snag. Mike said it should be very soon now.
The motor is a 1.6FX. I would guess a small gasser would do a fine job if the weight wasn't to great.
I am sure there will be a post in the P+A forum when the kits come through!
Did anyone notice the wing is on a tube?

It is the same plane but I was not there when the picture was taken.
By golly I think it is a gasser in the picture!
Had a 1.6 FX when I flew it ........ Maybe the gasser was not to his liking

Default GS540P engine

The engine in the photo is the RCS 180 gasser which was used on the first test flights. It was later switched to the OS160 for more testing.

Default RCS ...

Thought it looked like ...
Any feedback on the performance with the RCS?
Granted, a OS 1.60 being a little higher thrust.

I have an RCS 1.40 for an application just like this.

From: Beavercreek, OH,
Default Kits now being shipped

Ohio Model Planes has just completed the first run of these 80" Profile Edge 540s. They look really good with laser cut parts and a "real aluminum" wing tube, not the weak ply tabs. This plane is extremely light on the wing with roughly 12 lbs on 1680 sq. in of wing.
