It's a shame it's a preview. I hate to WAIT for it to come out.

My Pop is at the show now. He picked up an OMP 40 size Edge for me. (I've had the big one now I have the small one)

He told me the prices they had at the show...$65 for the small edge $180 for the GS540P don't remember what he said about the rest.

HMMMM....

If I remember correctly there is a thread here on RCU about the prototypes of this bird...

Truely great flying planes.

I am under the impression it will be released in kit form first and an ARF later.

I guess the plane is "officially" OMP's now so they get to make the decision...

There was another designer that is devoloping a katana profile as well. Don't remember who but a quick search would turn it up!

Actually that is matlok's and clay's design .... They worked out some kind of deal for OMP to kit it. In fact the plane in the picture is one they built for OMP to take to the show.

If that's the case that's GREAT! Now that they have a distributer they will have time to come up with more cool designs! Way to go!

Wonder when the kit will be available? I might wait for the ARF on this one. I remember reading the thread about the plane and I was truely impressed, what a beautiful plane. Wonder what the pricing will be, kit, ARF? Maybe OMP will post more info when the get back from the show.

Weren't there some KE issues with the prototype? Did this all get ironed out?

OMP seems like they are very receptive to the wants of the profile crowd. It's much nicer then the old, "Well this is what we have" kind of companies of yesterday.

I like the Katana P. I honestly can't say for sure if I like the Yellow or White color choice better. I'd have to think that with White, you would want to stay pretty close in. I'd say with either one, you'd better be flying it right, or face some pretty harsh Probonics.

The original (and current) design has little to no KE coupling; the issue you are thinking of was on the 2nd prototype, where we tried something different w/the taper of the wing. Apparently that didn't work very well so we stayed with the original design.

matlok,

We have been asking for this bird since december, Thank you. I think you made a great choice with OMP to manufacture your design. I need to get on the waiting list.

Glad to see this one finally coming to market. You made a good decision getting OMP to distribute it. To me, they are becoming the premier profile supplier. Great guys to deal with. Now, get to work on a .60 size one! I just flew mt OMP 60 size Yak today and it's incredible. A .60 Katana would be amazing.

Thanks for clearing that up for me Matlok, I knew I read something about that.

If OMP puts out a 60, I'm taking out a loan!

I talked with a couple of the guys in the OMP booth today at Toledo. Best case for the Katana kit would be June. Realistic time frame is more like August. I know I talked to Mike and one other guy but can't recall his name at the moment. Ive really been looking forward to this kit as well.

Oh well, that gives me time to build the 65" Yak, 47" YAK and the GS540 before they release it.
