Default 2nd Funfly?

So I'm loving the Knife. I've decided to let the Ultra Stick go:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/showthread...051&forumid=45
and make my second plane a little more in the 3D mode. Does anyone have an opinion of the Balsa Nova? All I hear about is the Knife and the Top Cat. I like the looks of the Balsa Nova but the Knife has spoiled me. I have to be able to Knife edge, flat spin, hover, elevator, blender, etc. If it doesn't do all that I'm just flying in circles!~~

Realize that the Balsa Nova in not a Fun-Fly per say. It is more in the lines of an aerobatic sport plane. You're in the wrong category for a Fun-Fly. Needless to say, I would recommend a another manufacturer, but I'm bias (guess who?)

Default Definetely another Morris

Billy, you answered the question yourself !!!! All you hear about is the Knife and Top Cap ! Both of them are Morris kits. So guess what your choice should be ? Correct ! A TOP CAP (cause you have the Knife already) ! Well I think their Sledge 540 will work also (my next profile after I finish building my Yellow Aircraft Sukhoi).
Seriously, if we all have such great results with our Top Cap's, why don't you try one too. From what I have been reading and understanding in your threads, I think you would enjoy the heck out of it. Come and join the Club, and do not forget to put a OS 50sx on it. It rocks !
Just my $0.02

Billy,

You rapidly getting to the place all us funfly guys get to.... pursuit of the perfect plane. I think your about ready to design your own. I have/do. Think about what you want in a plane, then figure out how to make it happpen. I'm on about my 4th so called " perfect " funfly plane. All of which have flown WELL.... but I'm just never happy... LOL Anyway, your there bro... just build one..... do what you think would work..... the TLAR principle.... and if it works well, let us know !

Billy have I got 2 selections for you.
1. If you like the looks of the balsa nova look at HSCRM's Hard BET. It looks a lot like a balsa nova but is much more extreme. I am building the new mark III with plug in wings now. I have been flying the old style for a year or so. http://www.hsrcm.com/hb_mk3_overview.htm
It is the best pure tumbling fun fly I have seen. The only normal fun fly that I have seen (and done) a vertical pinwheel with. A beautiful SLOWWW inverted flat spin. It has a thin box fuse and the tank servos go inside. The new one is supposed to be much lighter than the old one which was really to heavy for elevators and such, but the new one does appear to be a little lighter/
2. The new morris sledge 540. I have a pre production bird and there really isnt anything this bird wont do in expert hands, well except maybe a pinwheel. It will elevator, torque roll hovers pretty easy, high alpha knife edges etc. http://morrishobbies.com/product_inf...44fce853871e47

I hear you. I have always wanted a Hsrcm but I haven't built a kit before. Maybe this could be my winter project.

I fly the Morris Fun Design with the rear exhaust Rossi 45. I like this combo a lot yet I never hear any thing about it. I have flown it now for nearly 2 yrs and it has a well over a 100 flights. IS THIS THING A DUD?

Default 1st Time Builders

Billy - I have numerous customers that are first time builders. I try to go the extra mile to include numerous photos of the aircraft in construction (just ask Smallfly). The Hard Bet MkIII has approx. 140 digital photos in its construction manual, and approx. 80 in the Aeron-40's manual. I didn't like what I received from other manufacturer's construction manual when I started building. It always seems that they left me scratching my head. There is a few that I just threw out and attacked it without them and did better. I've had individuals ask to purchase my construction manuals without the kit just because of the numerous building tips that are illustrated in my construction manuals. Ask others regarding my construction manuals, normally I receive very - very few questions.

I've got a Balsa Nova. Like Kevin said, it's not a funfly!!
I've heard great stuff about the Hard Bet on RC online!!

I'm building the Aeron right now! I've got the fuse about done.
Real easy to build!!

Default New Fun Fly

Hey BH
If you dont want to build, check out the Pizzaz. I'd suggest an Irvine 53, Webra 50, or a Jet or Nelson of same size for power. I think the 45 size motors just dont yank them around. If you decide on this ARF, be sure to replace the CA hinges. The ones in the kit are dissasters waiting to happen
If you want to build I'd stay with the Morris Gee Wiz Bee, or Kevins Wacky Bee looks like fun also.
My Pizzaz will do all the stuff my profiles will do...cept mabe KE loop, but that might be the pilots fault too

Maybe I should have held on to that plane but I will probably want the next one to fly better than the Knife. Paul got that deal because a song writer friend of mine (he has songs recorded by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill) didn't think it should be just sitting in his work shop. I'm glad a good guy like Paul ended up with it. I may build the Hard Bet III if I think I won't mind crashing it.

Interesting you should mention the Pizazz. I've had one since they first came out and flown many other peoples with various engines, CG's, throws, etc. I never liked mine or the others I've flown and basically shelved it as a backupp plane for when everything else was broken. I considered it a decent sport plane, but no more.

Anyway, this morning I took it out to the field to get in some practice alone.... no one around on a Tues..... and amazingly..... I found I could get it to do a LOT. ( Mine has Saito .56.) I have no idea why I couldnt get it to 3D before, but now it will do a lot of things like waterfalls, inverted flatspins, wingtip spins, Harrier, hover, and torque roll. It's still not a funfly in my book.... I like Morris and self designed stuff and its WAY too heavy for an FF, but damn its a lot more capable than I thought for 9 mo.

Billy. The hardest part of building the hard bet is getting all the pieces that you need from your various sources. I am almost done with mine, building the tail feathers now. The wing construction is quite easy, The fuselage takes a little more time but has good step by step instructions. And dont worry if you make a mistake, Ive built lot's of planes and have allready made 2 on this one. I guess that's what you get when you only look at the pictures and dont bother to read the text. I have cut a few extra lightening holes in mine in some of the light ply parts and really want to get it as light as possible. I can post a pic or 2 of the bones If you would like to see it

Default Smallfly - Naked Planes!!!

If I recall correctly, Billy Hell is into naked planes (planes boned out). At one time he was discussing setting up a RC Plane Pron site with naked planes exclusively (though I don't think that it would catch on very well - just my opinion).

Bottom-line - Post those pics!
