I think they are both good, but once you go 4 stroke, it's hard to go back to 2 stroke. They just have so much more torque then 2 strokes do.
However if you start with a 2 stroke and stay with a 2 stroke there is no reason to go to 4 stroke because you are already used to the way a 2 stroke feels. I just know that I could never go back to 2 strokes.

I have the opposite preference... I started on 2 strokes... and really like the way they throttle... I've been playing around in the 4 stroke arena... But I'm not able to get that smooth, clean, totally linear throttle transition I'm used to... I really like the torque... and I really like the power... I'm just not liking the flat spot in the middle of the throttle curve.
What ever you do... Don't get hung up on one is better than the other... It's really a preference thing... Try both and stick with what blows up your skirt.
