Default Sledge flat spin

Just started flying my 1st Sledge and am really enjoying it. I am able to do most everything advertised except a good tight flat spin. I have 13 other planes that will all flat spin nicely for me but the Sledge is stubborn. Could use some help.

Thanks

It won't flat spin with lots of throw, especially on the ailerons. But it takes some finessing on all the controls to get it right, it's not a slam 'em to the corners and hang on plane. I was doing that, couldn't get a flat spin and Jeff Williams got me to reduce the throws on my low rates and then he had it doing climbing flat spins.

This is just my take on the matter, lots of guys are flying Sledges, maybe some of them will offer their flat spin tips.

Yeah, what Chuck said. If you want to keep those really high throws then you will need to finesse your sticks otherwise the ailerons are so effective it will just throw itself out of the spin. Be sure your CG is right behind the secondary spar too.

Yep, same here. I was used to full elevator, full rudder, play with the ailerons. Sledge won't work that way. I've tried low rates but when I have to switch I get flustered so I learned to finesse which is annother way of saying I only get it right half the time! Man did I miss my Sledge this weekend at SMALL

How's the Sledge compare to the EF540 in a flat spin? I get the impression they have very similar flying characteristics.
