Default Lanier Stinger 10

Hi, I'm brand new to this forum and I tried searching for posts about the lanier stinger 10, but kept receiving an error message....so I apologize if the topic has been covered. I have ordered a Stinger 10 and was wondering if someone that has experience with building this plane has any tips about building it....changes/shortcuts/improvements with instructions, etc.

Thanks in advance,

Ricky

I have a stinger 10 that I flew for years and finally I have retired it. I bought the kit and built in in no time flat. There really are no shortcuts b/c the wood on the fues. is in box form and the wings of course are sheeted styrofoam. There are a few modifications you might need to make depending on the motor. If your going with a .20 or less then just go by the plans but if you decide to go with a .25 or a .36 (like me) then there are a few modifications that have to be made...one is bracing the tail better than the instructions call for and the other is insert a carbon shaft through the center of the wing. This is a great flying little jewel, with a .25 or better it will scream and come in super hot on landings. If you do what the plans call for then it will be gental.

I'm planning to put a magnum 15 in it....I had it in a sig wonder, but i could never quite get things right with the wonder. It's been through about 4 club members over several years, but it just wasn't agreeable...i'll save it for later and try out the stinger.

I flew a Stinger 10 with a Magnum .15 for a while. The plane flew fine, but was somewhat underpowered. I agree with the above post talking about putting a .25 or .36 (WOW) in it. Good plane with no bad habits in my experience.

Hi

I have had a stinger for a while. It flies pretty good over all. I have a OS 15FP in mine (think they make it the 15LA now) and it flies just fine. Its pretty fast and a lot of the other guys say it sounds like a little bee buzzing by. Its a good match for general flying, but if you want to hover or go verticle, go with a bigger engine. The only things I didnt really like about this kit is that it comes with no hardware and the instructions are not very good (no pics). So you end up paying a lot more in once your done. It does build up pretty fast and its fun to fly, but doesnt like slowing down. I bought it mainly so I could fly at parks and other small areas, but it flies so fast that it needs more room. However, I have gotten good enough to where I can fly it in small areas, but I couldnt do it when I first got it because it wouldnt slow down enough!

Rob
