Default Topcap tail flutter

I know you can't fly these planes fast, but I get real bad tail flutter on take off and real sharp turns. I get them around half throttle. I am set up with a os 46 fx and a apc 12x4 prop. The entire rear portion of the plane vibrates like crazy. I can kill the throttle and it stops. It is the fuse and tail section. Is there anything i can do to stop this?? Am I getting too fast on take off and in turns? I would really hate for the fuse to break. What can I do??

Default flutter

Without being there it sound like a resonance problem. Loose or broken motor mount bolts can cause this, as well as a out of balance prop. Try a different prop, maybe a wood prop to see if the problem goes away. Make sure your pull pull cables are tight if you used them. If the airplane has been banged around check to see if the fuse is cracked and flexing. Tom

Default Rear Vibration

Make sure that the servo mount or servo hasn't broken loose. I've seen this happen on a profile before and wasn't noticeable on the ground but the planes tail would go crazy in the air way before normal flutter would occur.

Default Your Problem??

Well....... I can't really tell you exactly what the problem is without looking at the plane, but I fly mine with a YS 63 FZ so I'd be willing to bet that it's not because you have too much power or vibration from the motor...... you need to check all of your linkages and make sure that there isn't any play in the rudder or elevator. Using pull pull would probably eliminate that.
Mine is set up with a 2-56 rod running back along the fuse for rudder(supported in two places) and pull-pull on elevator (per the instructions). I havn't had any problems. Let me know if this fixes any problems.

my knife did the dame thing on a high speed pass one time, checked the pull pull cables and they were loose. I tighten them and haven't fluttered since. ..G

OK Thanks guys...but i checked and the pull-pulls are tight and the prop is balanced,,,,servo tray's are tight....there are no broken bolts on the motor and the plane has never been banged around....i'll just hang the thing up and get the new extream3D 330 i guess

I run a saito 91 on mine, never had any problem with flutter running a 14/6 or a 15/6 course I never get over 1/2 throttle unless i want to go up fast out of a hover.

I had mine flutter like fish once, with a saito .72 running a 14x4 at full throttle level flight. Looked very funny, the rudder came loose and it wagged like crazy, dropped to an idle and landed with no problem.

Are your hinge gaps sealed?

SgtMitchell : I had the same problem with my Raven, I put flying wires on ti & solved the problem. I used bowstring material, But you could use fishing string "mono" , Just poke a hole in the tail with a large T-pin thread the mono through one side of the tail up to the vertical stab, down to the other side of the tail & attach to your tail wheel bracket. Put a few drops of CA on the holes to glue the wires to the tail & make it much more rigid. I'll include a pic of my Raven to give you an idea. Hope this helps you, from what I hear these planes are way too much fun to fly to be hanging around.

I sealed my hinge line with 2"wide clear postal tape. You kinda need to do it before you fly it and get oil on the covering.
