Just beginning to get a few flights on this new Extra Special (now discontinued) after having flown the Fun 51 for several years. (same plane different profile) Can't figure why I pancake all the landings. I balanced it like the plans, and have readjusted the ailerons for a better neutral orientation, (the 51 was slightly up, and I duplicated it on the Extra originally) Using a MDS 48 instead
of the Fox 40, but I used it on the 51 too. Any ideas? All the
incidences are as correct as the plans. Thanks,
P.S. Yes I can land!!

Shortman: It flies like a rocket, has vertical limited only to the extent of my nerves. I normally "grease" my landings and it's kind of ego deflating! I'll try some more throttle and maybe less pitch.
Thanks guys!

Don: I'm not using flaperons, but have the capability, and need to expand my capabilities a little probably. I guess the old one spoiled me.
I appreciate your help!

Thanks for the reply David, I guess the Fun 51 (same plane) spoiled me, it landed so nicely. What engine is on yours, maybe I've got too much, or incorrect pitch? The Fox 40 was just about
perfect, but tired. The MDS 48 lets it go nearly out of sight. Do you get to the Atterbury field? That is: when it's not raining?
Regards, Stan

I'm not giving up on it yet.
My first MDS 48 was purchased 3 yrs
ago, and flew like a rocket until the connecting rod decided to exit the crankcase. Horizon replaced it without question. The replacement never had the horsepower like the original, and began overheating, no matter how rich I adjusted the needle.
I returned it after two seasons of frustrations, and they replaced the carb with a new version thats not available yet thru parts.
Seems to be ok now. But as far as longevity??? I'll wait and see.
Probably won't buy another unless I get 3-4 years out of this one.
(without further trouble) Bye!
