I guess I need a Nelson 40 and a 9x9 too.
Anyway, a 13x6 prop creates significantly less thrust in a hover (static) than does a 14x4W at the same power level. I'd honestly guess a pound to a pound and a half difference. The "W" props are stump pullers.
The thought is that in order to hold the plane, you then need more rpm. More rpm plus the 6 inch pitch means the air over the tail is moving faster, and it COULD help to stabilize the plane in various attitudes. Heck, I'll try anything once... Or even twice if I like it...

I decided to add a bit of a personal touch to the Katana GS. I’m not as talented as some folks, so I just called up the vinyl shop down the street, and he cut me these.

Holy CRAP!!!!!!
That crazy man Frank let me fly his today and all i can say is HOLY CRAP!!! This is THE BEST plane i have EVER flown! KE flight is oh so stable and takes like no throttle at all with that saito 72 up front! And the ailerons!! oh boy you gotta love that roll rate I also found rolling harriers and rolling circles really easy to get into! Then you have your hover!!! LOVE IT!! rock solid with tons of rudder for correction.. The harrier rocks a little bit when your in a shalow one but when you bring the nose up to around 60 degrees then its rock solid no rocking at all! OH and you cant forget about that crazy flat spin it does! it just sits there chasing its tail around like a mad dog IF i had to pic one word to sum up how this thing flys i would have to go with AWSOME!!!
Now i cant say i want one anymore cause i NEED ONE!!!!!!
I wish i had some money.. Still workin on the parents but thats not going to well

I went out with the Kat and asked Shane to shoot a few pics for me. Bro was all over it, and we got a few really good ones!

Still trying to figure how to post a vid or two. I loaded them at RCG, and can’t figure how to link. I’ll get them here too.

Sucker is rock solid in a hover isnt she?
I was noticing yesterday I was holding a little up elevater in a hover. Something you have to do or not?
I wish I had a video cam but with www.accelhobby.com releasing a Katana 70 GS soon I just gotta get that too. The way the 40 flys the 70 should kick some major tail!!
So what is it for the hookman.....cam or planes?[:-]
I think Ill go with the plane

These things just rock!
Oh BTW wheres the pic of you plucking it out of the air?

If that doesn't get deleted, you can find two vids there.
#42 is a cool tail slide. # 35 is a knife edge to hover transition.

Hey rcs there was only about 4 inches so he just landed it as usual
and that would be cool if you could write your name but the prop blast throws snow everywhere (verycool thing to watch) and coveres up even where the rudder went in....

5.75 inches back is very close to perfect. Thats about mid servo if you dont feel like measuring. Ive had it farther back an farther forward so it depends some on your flying style.
