I'd been looking for a high 'G', high speed funfly for some time, without luck, when I noticed the wreckage of a 'Hot Canary' sitting in my building room. I had stacked it on its nose a few years back, when a high speed dive fluttered both push rods off the ailerons. ( Don't plan on landing a heavy, no-dihedral, biplane, with rudder only, by the way!)
I had been planning to build a fuse for one or both of the wings, but noticed that the lower wing saddle, back to the tail was in great shape, so I drew a line from nose to tail, just above the stab, and used a Home Depot hack saw to cut the top of the fuse off. A little balsa sheet, a little less tail, a Max 32SX, and you have a 'Half Canary'
First flight, waaay too much throw, and tail heavy. Way out of control! ( All the other pilots, landed quickly.)
Second flight, still tail heavy, but half the throw. Still wild. (Several pilots started to pack up and head to their cars,)
Third flight, still tail heavy, half again as much throw. Now it was starting to groove! ( Several pilots climbing under the pit tables.) This is getting fun!!!
Seriously, the little guy is really hot, and a great way to fix that 'Need for speed'
Moral of the story....don't throw away anything...there's airplanes in that wreckage!!!!

That looks like a modified Miss Martha. The '1/2 version' looks like it has a stubby wing.
Fo future reference, look at the Hard Bet MkIII as a possibility for a fast flying FF.
