New Profile Landing Gear by Jeff Williams
I just saw a good set of reviews on the profile brotherhood site about new 40-60 size landing gear from www.williamsrc.com. They are designed such that you can cut the top and bottom ends off to adjust the height to fit your plane. They also have very smooth lines, a nice tapered look, rounded edges (no sharp edges/corners), and a centerline molded in for drilling the holes exactly on center. They seem a bit more stiff than the tetherites I have but are designed to still flex about 1/2 the way down the main leg. It looks like there will be several color choices was well with black, natural, and white (others to come later from what I understand). I also understand that they are a glass fiber engineering grade of nylon and that there is a carbon fiber grade being tested as well! I have found out that they will be available for sale starting this week but I think you will have to call on them (not on the website just yet) or see Jeff at the Toledo show this weekend. They, so far, have been successfully used on planes up to 8 1/2lbs! Should be great on my new 60 sized mustang! I included a few pictures from one of the tests that I found.
If anyone has used these please comment on them. I will as soon as I get my set installed on the new 'stang!

Are they anywhere near as good as Crazylegs? Ive been flying my crazy legs with no breaks or problems on my Yak for around 50 gallons of fuel through the plane.

I guess I don't know as I haven't used Crazy legs..maybe someone else knows more. I just got mine in and only have the tetherite 60 gear to compare them to.

They dont splay out anywhere near as bad on a heavy FF like my 65" yak You can push down on the nose while starting it with a starter and dont have to worry about the legs squishing out. They are springy but not mushy. Darn good lookin planes there BTW
I think this is the fourth pic you may have wanted. The bipe with the white gear
I have about 20-25 landings with various airframes and so far I think it is the equal of or in a lot of circumstances better than the tetherite. One size works for both 40 and 60 you just cut it at the top and bottom for 40 size unless you need your FF to have some very tall gear for swinging a large prop

RE: New Profile Landing Gear by Jeff Williams
Sorry, I just ordered my tetherite gear by size and didn't pay attention to the "crazylegs" label....I do pay more attention to my flying and buliding....I hope!
As far as a direct comparisons the williams gear seem to be stronger, do not flex nearly as much with the weight of the plane (haven't flown with them yet), don't have sharp edges (nice radii on all edges), can be easily sized to the height you want, etc. I'll update the post again when I have flown with both...sometime in the next couple of weeks.
I know others have all ready flown with both and maybe we will get their comments.[8D] If you want the link to see the other reviews I read just email me (seems RCU blocked it, hope I didn't violate a policy).

Just for the record;
We have beefed-up the 90 size 'Legs (TPP19's) to provide a firmer stance, with the right amount of flex for the 65" YAK's with the larger engines.
So now the entire line of Profile and Standard gear are "heavy duty"!!!
As always - Good landings!

My original crazy legs on my Yak give just the right amount of flex, Its hard to imagine anything being better but after a few years i'm sure this gear be be able to do a side by side comparison.

assuming the new gear is what I just got with my omp ultimate it does seem a bit stiffer than what was on my yak but IMO it is still a bit too spongy for an 8 lb plane. I personally like the idea of getting different colors myself, but they are both good products and to each his own.

I have used the krazy legs with good results, but I am always looking for something new, JWilliams gear looks like it is worth a look. Will let you know how they work.

Jeff, thanks for the info on your web site. I've been looking for a while. I've seen planes on the net with them. Just couldn't find them anywhere. I'm currently building a katana gs 40. I also plane on ordering a sledge 540. Was kind of hoping for an ARF in the sledge. Guess I'll have to wait a while on that though. Thanks again. Allen

Actually Smallfly, the 50" Ultimates shipped with the 90 size Tetherite gear from last year's stock. I chose to include these rather than the new stiffer gear Ray made since the Ultimates come in around 6.5 lbs. The new heavier gear is stiffer and better for the 65 Yaks and up.

It really doesnt matter to me what came with it. I like Jeff's white gear on my Ulti's color scheme and it they have held up great, even thru a few less than perfect landings[:@]

Well, I've finally gotten to the point of mounting the gear. The look great with little to no sag and the plane is 6.5lbs!. Hopefully I'll get it flying this next week.

FINALLY! The plane is done and ready to fly. The gear handle the 8.4lbs great with minimal sag (although the carbon version would better). Here's what it looks like.
