That looks real nice wonderfulwade. I’m still plugging away - but I’m not ready to fly yet. I try to work on the plane (at least a little bit) every day. I got the throttle linkage completely worked out and tested this week. My tail feathers all are covered and I’m working on covering the fuse now. Covering is taking much longer than I expected. No way I will finish by this weekend. Shooting for next weekend.

Default Looks Wonderful, Wade!

The covering scheme is super. Are you using MonoKote or UltraCote?

Finished airframe is 6.5 lbs. RTF weight will be 9lbs...........not bad for 1120cu.in. of wing area.

I really like that color scheme, the plane looks really sharp. I know from first hand expreience how long something like that must have taken on a plane this size. I did a simple two color covering job and it took me a long time. I hope you have some decent weather so you can do some flying (I'm still aiming for next weekend)

Moses,
Your wings look great! I am still a couple weeks from flying her. I busted a De-Bro isolation mount while tapping it for bolts , gonna wait and see if De-Bro will send a new half. I still need to bid onj 5 Grand Wing 100oz servos from Ebay--this guy is letting them go cheap. Other than that the weather in S. Mississippi is perfect for flying. I'll keep all posted on results. More to come...............

WW, sorry about the engine mount. You could switch to a glass-filled nylon mount. These are inexpensive. I was going to use a Du-Bro soft mount but I switched to a Great Planes glass-filled nylon mount … after doing some reading it seemed like a soft mount was not necessary (even with the Saito 120).

I still have the Du-Bro 688 mount - willing to let it go cheap. Let me know.

Servos are definitely an issue with this plane. You have to spend some cash to get high performance servos. I went with a set of Hitec 5625 digitals (110 oz inches of torque) all around – the visa card is still smoking.

Moses,
What will you take for the mount? De-Bro hasn't emailed me back with a responce on a replacement, I want to keep this airframe for a while so I'm willing to go for the soft mount. Let me know. Thanks. --Wade

It's a small world Wade. I live up here in Hattiesburg, and usually fly down @ the Lumberton airport.
How close are all you guys to flying your Freedoms? I'm starting my wings tonight and I need to order my engine. I'm kind of waiting for some field reports. I'm pretty sure it's gonna be the Saito 1.50 though.
Wade, does your club have a website?

Hey WW, I sent you a personal message regarding the Du-Bro engine mount - you never read it. Ummmm ... check your personal messages (I think you will find my offer quite reasonable ).

By the way, my tail feathers are finally all glued. I will be hinging and setting up the control horns and linkages over the next few days. Looks like it will be 40 degrees this coming Sunday. Still going to try to get the plane ready by then.

Hard Landing,
Our web site is at http://www.kamsrc.com/. Come down and fly with us. As a matter of fact were having a fly-in this Saturday and the weather is going to be great - Sunny in the 70s. I have a few odd and ends to get at my LHS before I can fly my Freedom. Unfortunatly my LHS is 70 miles away in Mobile, AL. Also, I have two fly-ins to attend in the next two weekends. I should be ready to fly sometime soon after all this. I think this Magnum 1.20 2-stroke w/ an 18X6 APC prop is going to work great on this plane, plenty of H.P. and will keep the weight down. I'm at least going to try is since I have this engine with only a half gallon of fuel throug it. A Saito 1.50 should do the trick for you.

Moses,
I got your PM, sorry it took long but I just figured out this web site had that function. I emailed you back and appreciate the great deal on the mount. If you fly her this Sunday I hope you take your digital camera. I'm just going to fly mystik this weekend.

Sincerely, Wade

Wade,
Isnt there a hobby shop there in Gulfport? In the Orange Grove area? Or do you just prefer the one you have to drive so far to? I have been meaning to make a trip to the one in Gulfport. Gotta be better than the ones here in Hattiesburg.
