Default tower uproar vs. magic

Hello
I currently have a tower uproar and am wanting to learn more about the 3d rage. It wont knife edge at all but I read that the magic wont either. Would I be better off selling the uproar and getting the magic or learn with the uproar?
Thanks
Jeff

You are absolutly correct. The Magic won't Knife Edge. It Flat spins real well, and does a decent blender, but is not the easiest to hover.

If you are willing to build a kit, The Morris Sledge 540 is a winner.

Also, both The Knife, and Su-Do-Kho from Morris are really good airplanes too.

Ive heard some folks make an acceptable 3D out of the uproar by adding a little to the rudder and elevator. do a search on it and you will find more details. A lot can be achieved by tweeking a plane and spending some time getting familiar with it. just about any plane can 3D to some degree. Ive even gotten an avistar trainer to hover. (15 seconds so far!) Some planes will make it easy, others will make you work a bit more.

The top cap is easyer to hover than the magic, but i hear the U can do is even easier than the Top cap. if you don't mind up grading to a 90 2-stroke this might be a nice addition to your hangar.

I can get my Uproar to hover OK. But after it starts to fall to a side, the rudder ain't powerful enough to keep it up and it falls. Mines got a 1/2" larger rudder. A friend did a 1.5" larger rudder and still has the same problem. You'll need to build the elevator halves to allow for more rudder deflection as well... And a larger fuselage (as per the Dazzler, but bigger since that model doesn't have adequate knife performance as well)... I've got another buddy who has 2 Magics, and while great hoverers, they also suck at knife manuveurs. At the end of the day, you might as well buy a Morris the Knife ARF and save the hassle. You won't find a better hoverer, knife edger, or flat spinner...

Kevin at HSRCM gives great customer service and is on these threads on a regular basis.

Send him an email. He will answer all of your questions about the Hardbet and any of his other airplanes.

Ive noticed his posts. Definaty a cool guy. He has a pretty good desription of the planes on the website. I thought JJoos99 might be interested in this plane also. Maybe i'll start a new thread about the Hardbet and see what folks have to say.

Default magic - flatspin

latch66 - Yes, the magic does nice flatspins, however, I can't get it to climb. As soon as you apply power, it jumps out - any idea????

rmm,

I'm experiencing the same thing trying to get a climbing flat spin out of the Magic.

The best I have been able to get from the Magic so far is a "hovering" flat spin.

I'm going to try feeding a little less input on rudder/elevator/aileron combination and see what happens then. Maybe it will finally do a climbing flat spin.
