SU DO KHOI tank
Has anyone mounted the fuel tank on the outside of the fuse? If so where? How was the throttle response?
I had a SU DO KHOI with the tank in the wing and it was fine but, I ran out of fuel in hover too many times!!!! It would be nice to have the tank in view so I could always see the fuel level! If anyone has any pics I would love to see them! Post them or email them to me.

Tank
The fellas around here like to notch out the leading edge of the wing behind the engine during construction and mount it with a couple of dots of clear silicone. It's visible and mounted out of the way. When it's time to remove the tank, a piece of dental floss can be forced between the tank and wing, and it breaks the silicone seal. Hope this helps.

I'm going to mount my oposite my engine like I did my other fun flys... I just can't decide whether to do it with string trimmer line or rubber bands.....

SU DO KHOI tank
Hmmmm...... I see the problem now...... I went to mount my tank last night and the nose of the SuDoKhoi is much taller than my other fun flys..... If I rubber band it or use tie raps or string trimmer line, I'll still have to run the lines over the top of the fuse... Might cause fuel draw problems... Unless I mount the tank on the engine side, which I don't want to do... I like having the tank on the side oposite the engine for counterbalance.
I could run the fuel line in a small space between the front of the engine and the fuselage engine bearers... It doesn't bind or pinch.... Idea's??

Paul,
I had a Morris Fun Design and the tank was mounted outside, opposite the engine. To run the fuel lines I just drilled a hole in the fuse and put the line through the hole. I dropped some thin CA in the hole to fuel prood it.
Heres a pic of my Fun Design. You kind kinda see the fuel line in this pic. Also, I sent you a Private Message.

Paul,
I attached the tank to the fuse with double sided foam tape.
I also drilled some more holes in the fuse and use tie wraps through the holes and around the tank. It was very secure.
As far as a strength issue......I dont know, it didnt seem to have any less strength up front Matter of fact when it crashed ( hover and no gas dont mix ) the nose was not harmed at all. It just broke right behind the wing on the fuse. Typical for Profiles.

Fuel Tank
My engine may be a little more forward than yours, but I used brass tubing and slipped the line between the engine and firewall.
The area just behind the doublers are waiting for the crash...This area is very easy to break. I do not know if drilling would be wise in this area
I wish they had doubled the entire fuse...... At least then I could have put a bigger powerhouse on it and not worried about thie fuse breaking...
I Also found a weak spot in the elevator..
Flutter is this a/c's worst enemy...I observed my buddy totaly destroy his in the air.
I knotched out the rudder a small amount and ran a strip of ply about 3 inches along the bottom of leading edge to help both sides of the elevator remain stable.
This is a fun airplane....It is fun because it is lite and the wing area..
Good Luck,
Watch your speed.
