The guy who taught me to fly had a Diamond MA and a Lil' Rippy. They impressed me. I got to fly the MA a bunch. How do these compare to the Minus and new planes. I have not gotten into these much but want to. I am going to be flying alone not competition. What should I get? I am not up on the latest generation of planes. I know the Diamond planes are easy to build and a pain to cover. I like there looks are they way behind the times? Where do you get the Minus? Thanks guys, I could use some schoolin'!! ----Mike

The MA and Rippy are Comp Unlimited planes while the Menus and
Minus are Fun Fly planes. For just play I'd go with the latter.
2 wheels and a rudder make them more of a sport type Comp
plane and will be sim to the MA and Rippy you know with the
addition of the above.
BTW Jeff is still around and someday may have the Diamond Back
Pro kitted which is in the same style as the Menus/Minus.

Yes, the rudder would be nice. The single gear was never really a problem that I remember? They just look so cool. I am in Michigan and used to run into Jeff once in a while. Last I heard, he was hurt at work and sold Diamond unlimited to a guy in Florida? The MA was the first plane I ever flew!(95 or 96) I did here Diamond has a new kit coming out. I am flying my Magic 3D right now but it is more like a sport plane than a FF. I slows down nice. I have all the programing dialed. Just have to mess around a bit. ---Mike

Heres the ideal Competition flunfly:
Modified Airfoil, so no flutter...
Pull Pull ailerons, no Flutter, plus positive control.
A rudder...
And it just so happens.... Its for sale.

Mike,
Probably the most aggressive funfly kit available is The Minus, by TPP(Turner Performance Products). The Menace is a close second, even more appropriate for the "sunday sport flier". The Minus was designed strictly for competition. The Minus can be built as either a Funfly or Unlimited airframe, in fact, both versions swept the funfly NATS this last summer. So, either way you build it, you know it will be good. If you want more info on either the Menace or the Minus, drop me a line...good to see some interest!!

That was an unlimited. Jeff and his son were at the top of the funfly seen around 95? Those planes are hot if you want an unlimited. The airfoil is actualy created by the sag of the covering between the ribs. My fling buddy has had the Lil' Rippy and the Diamond Unlimited M A. How do these compare to the newer ulimited planes? What about spoilerons? --Mike
