Yes, they are different. They are flat with 2 molded areas for zip ties, rubber-bands or straps. I don't know where you can get them from. I have this one from an Arf I bought last yr.

I got a OMP 46 Yak ARF last summer. It came with a rectanglure tank with the molded areas for ty-raps or rubber bands. I`ll look and see if it has a name on it.

I looked at the tank. No name just these numbers HYP03030186 240CC. Like what exeter said you may want to call OMP or email them.

I have a couple of the tanks with the grooves in them and they are great for profiles but as far as I know they are supplied with the arfs by the manufacturer ( chinese) and are not available from any of the U.S. suppliers. A good tank for a profile is the Sullivan Slant Oval tank.
Here is a link to the 8oz tank but they have other sizes available.

I heard from one of the guys at the field that Modeltech had them on some of there planes. He is building a profile and one of the other guys at the field gave him a tank that has the grooves in it and said it came from a Modeltech plane.

Good tip on the slant tanks. I've got one on my engine test stand and it never dawned on me that it would be a great profile tank. Thanks for posting.

I use Hayes tanks on all of my profiles and hold them on with rubber bands. Haven't slung one off yet. Give me time though. If it is bad and can be done, I'm sure to be the one that does it.

I think they would work fine. The reason I use the Hayes is because I am lazy and you don't have to bend the tubes for the vent like on the Sullivans. The Hayes are also known for holding up to the pressure from YS engines.

Any tank will work as long as you have room for it between wing and prop. I use Hayes or Sullivans on all my profiles. Held on by rubberbands you don't need slots in your tank to keep them from coming off or sliding.

Yep, Hayes and Dubro are really popular around here.
