Default Katana 40 GS ARF-Strength Issues??

Had one of these practically given to me-might as well put it together and fly it! Seen a bunch of them all over Ebay and other places cheap and they talk about them needing reinforcing for more extreme 3D stuff. I thiught I had seen a thread on that once but can't seem to find it. Any experience out there with this issue-can you really break em??? It sounds like the V2 is quite an improvement but a cheap plane is a cheap plane. Be fun to compare it to my OMP Edge.

The first shipment of Accel GS ARF's were great, no issues. The second container they got were the reject that they decided to unload instead of returning.

The V2's are not in the same league as either of them. For one thing the wings can't fail because they are 2 piece with alum tube and many other new features.

Just be careful which version you get if you go for the GS'. I think we still have a few of the originals in stock and selling them at $115 and we have plenty of the V2's.

Thanks Dion-Is this thing worth messing with or should I just forget it-can't see putting it together and just cracking it up.
Love my Edge....waiting on the Yaks to add one to the collection.

If it's the first batch ... fly it till you crash it.

If it's their second batch ... then make sure you keep it away from asphalt. Too bad they don't have serials or something to define which batch they were. It's just unreal how the second container was put together as compared to the first.

That factory has since replaced all workers and managment.

I am currently flying one that I got from Ebay an noticed when I was putting it together that the skin on the right side of the fuse was starting to come off. I reglued it the best I could without taking apart and have been flying the heck out it ever since. It seems very sturdy to me. The biggest thing I have noticed is that where the landing gear is attatched to the fuse the bolts (screws) don't go through any structure so it started to shear apart on landings. I beefed it up with some Gorilla glue and it's solid now.

I have noticed that there is someone selling a bunch of them on Ebay now and it's a different seller than before but the ad is written exactly the same way, making it sound like the original seller. Sounds suspicious to me.

I have one of those ebay katana GS 40's
stripped the fuse mono off, ca'ed where the
wing slides in (was a little loose but not bad)
recovered it and flying the heck out of it,
blenders snaps hovers and its as strong as
the good batch was.

WELL IF THE KATANA V2 40 IS BETTER THAN THE GS 40 I DON'T THINK I COULD STAND IT
THE GS FLIES GREAT, YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU WANT WITH IT.
I RUN A YS .63 ENGINE ON MINE. WITH 30% HELI FUEL .
TALK ABOUT POWER. LOL
ANYWAY MAYBE IF THIS ONE EVER LAYS DOWN THEN I MIGHT THINK ABOUT
THE V2 I DO LIKE THE WING SET UP AND THE LANDING GEAR ON THE V2.

FLY HARD AND DONT FORGET TO PICKUP ALL THE PIECES.
