Mike,
Really to tell a difference you need to be flying alot, and be an excellent pilot. *most* people aren't going to notice the difference. If you think you'll really benefit from them and have the skills (and money) I'd say go for it, but I'd say their not really worth it. (though they do have excellent holding power)

This is just my $.02

Default Comp. Funfly/Digital servo's

Mike,
I was using a standard servo on my Funfly on elevator using pull-pull. It looked slow & sluggish..flying wise I had no complains as such....Then I changed it to Hitec 5925 digital and it was F A S T with over 100oz of torque!! I really had a blast on it!
Walls & Parachutes were awesome!! Hovers were more crisp too..
Although I enjoyed the performance, I now feel the digital was an overkill....all one needs is a little high torque than standards....I would rather put mini (hi torque/speed) servos in my funfly & save some weight (&money too! )
Just my opinion!
cheers,
Mayur

I have been told by some reliable sources that they will not recomend anything else for thier planes. Yes the power and speed are great, the holding power awesome. The biggest advantage is the centering and the increase in control this provides. I could build another plane with the money saved on standard servo's, or have one twice as good. What do you think? I want them but they are not cheap. I guess I am trying to get more info and weight the pros an cons. The only con seems to be the price! ---Mike

Default Digitals in FF

Hello Mike , IMHO they are not needed in most FF type planes, just need a good / fast High torque of 90 or more IN.OZ.
And another down side is the higher drain rate on your battery pack. We normally run small packs of 300 MAH and often recharge after every flight to be safe. In a comp FF plane you are banging all the controls often and hard and this zaps the battery pretty quick. I have also had both JR and Hitec digitals lock up on me in large IMAC / 3D planes when doing continous hard snapps or tumbeling manuvers ! ?? Just my .02 cents. Have FUN !! Rod & Chris in PA.

The 9411's are Top of the line Max. Torq plus unmatched holding power and percision coupled with the duralite 1600 6volt rx pack(same wieght of a 300 nicad)and fly untill your ready to go home, with out charging .These servo's are the ones I have been fying in my 3d practice planes with no problems. although you can't get the 6volt duralite packs anymore. I'm glad I stocked up onthese packs before they couldn't get them anymore. Also have 12volt duralite pack in 10x JR TX I Charge it Once a week and I fly almost every day My opinion is if you have to ask the price you don't need it!!!

Default Digitals..

I don't know if they are needed, but I put them in the Sledge, and it's not a comp, just a FF. I just wanted to see how some .10 speed/100oz-in servos would feel in a FF plane. I should have modified the aileron mounts to be able to get the servos out without cutting the upper wing covering, but hey, I already had to cut it to put them back in , so one more won't hurt I guess. Running a 720MAH 5 cell NiMh pack.

Guy's, Thanks for all the input! I guess it is not the price as much as performance. I do not mind spending the money over a good Hi torq servo, if I will the difference. Performace is everthing in an R/C plane. If they will last and make my flying more fun I will get them. If I can get a servo for around $50 or so will just as good performance, I will go that way. In my opinion it would be a waste of time money and effort to put poorly centering servos in a hot plane. I would rather go with the JR 9411's than spend almost as much as for the Hitech. What would you guys run? I am building a Minus and a Diamond M.A. ---Mike

Hi Mike I Guess it's like every thing else performance costs. These servos like I have stated are Theeee best, and me being a futaba guy (God forbid) trust me I have tried them all and there is no comparison Hitec is haveing a centering problem thats why they are pushing there (servo programer?) I have 5 of these servos in my Morris Sudukhoi .Thats over $400 worth of servos in a $100 3D funfly 3D practice Plane, but as I stated earlier performance costs. So you have to decide do I want to sacrifice performance because it costs to much and buy the lower quality servos and still be wondering Why can't I do these manuvers and make it come out as crisp and sharp as Joe Blow over there????Daaaaa

Jerry, that is all I needed hear. I will get 3 or 4 ordered tomorrow. I just ask myself. Do I want one top level plane, or 2 mediocre ones. I will complete one and have the other ready for servo's In the event I get overly confident . Now, building them, no problem. Covering, well that can get tricky with 4 ribs! I want to get one in the air soon. Thanks all! ---Mike
