Default Power for 79" Yak?????

I have a choice, either a 210 Moki, 180 Moki, OS 160 or YS 140 Dingo. Which of these, in your opinion, would be the best for 3D flying in the 79" Yak? I like a lot of hovering and knife edge loops. Thanks, Dale

Dale I just maided my 79" Yak. I have a Saito 180 with an APC 18X6W prop on 15% nitro. My Yak is just under 11 lbs. I was hovering under half throttle. My Saito 180 weighs around 31 oz's and Your YS 140 weighs about the same. I had to add 1/8 of an inch aircraft grade ply to the top and bottom of the motor blocks to have a good fit and have some meat to drill thru for the motor mounting bolts. My 31 oz motor made the model nose heavy until I slid the motor as far aft as it would go and locate my 4 oz battery in the hatch on the fuse. Inverted flight was hands off. I bet this YAK was designed around the OS 160. I'm sure the OS 160 is heavier than the Saito 180 and the YS 140. I've never had a Moki.
This 79" Yak is big , slow, fun and a great 3D model.

BME 44 gas!!!! 20x8 prop. I like a way better than the 160 os with smith pipe. Hang low with a Mojo.

Now that BME 44 was a great combo I agree. Very good gas conversion for this plane. I thought BME discontinued those for the BME 50? Are the 44s still available?

According to the BME website they are still available and in stock. Problem is that I have the 4 engines I mentioned and don't want to spend another $529+ for another one. Thanks anyway. Dale

You are right, Bme does not make the 44, I have run across 3 nice used ones. Bme said you will never ware one of these motors out, they are an echo engine.

I've got the 79" Yak ARF. I put a new Mark 2.10 with Mac's tuned pipe. It turns a 20x8 MSC 8000 rpm on my own 0% home brew. I mix my own for about $9 per gal. I had to mount the battery in a compartment I made in the back. I can't imagine anything better for this plane. It idles down to 1800 rpm, and response is instant. I fly 15 minute flights with one quarter of a 20 ounce tank left. This is one of my favorite planes.

Since you have experiece with the moki 2.10 will it fly a 16 pound airplane well
I plan on putting it on a 27% katana by world models rated for a 50 to 60cc engine
I figure Ill save the weight with this motor and should fly good, what do you think

I think it will fly it OK, but only on the wings. Don't think it will 3D well. Dale
