Sealed hinges on Mojo .40
I am finishing up my mojo 40 build, and was wondering if the hinges need to be sealed? I also have about a 1/16" gap on one of the ailerons at the edge closest to the fuse. Is this something I need to be addressed, or will it fly fine that way? The rest of aileron is nice and tight. It is just the first 4 or 5 inches that have a little gap. I think this is because I removed a little too much material on that part of the aileron with the sanding bar. oops!
Thanks for the help,
Hunter
p.s. This plane will be powered with a TT.46 if that makes any difference

RE: Sealed hinges on Mojo .40
Here's my experience with that. Cover the moveable surfaces separately. Then seal them if you want, but I don't glue the hinges in and cover everything in one piece on a double-beveled surface. When I used to do that, the hinge line (the covering) would eventually pull loose due to the huge 3D deflections, and I could never get the covering to iron back down properly.
Covering the entire stab/elevator etc. in one piece works good for me on planes that don't have huge throws, but on everything else, the covering eventually comes loose at the hinge line. I don't think MoJos are designed to fly at high speeds, therefore, I don't see any big advantage to sealing the gaps. I have the mojo 40 and 60 and love them both. The 40 had sealed hinge lines until I re-did them. It doesn't fly any different now than before.

I do not have my hinges sealed on both mojos but i have on other profiles. I could not tell the difference and I have had NOOOO problems with control authority. And I have gaps more than 1/8" in some spots

RE: Sealed hinges on Mojo .40
good to know guys. I think I'll leave them unsealed for now, unless it flies poorly. But from what I have heard about the mojo, that shouldn't be a problem.
Thanks,
