Hi Warren,
Welcome to the online world of profiles. Good to see there's more profile flyers in South Africa out there. There's not many of us up here in Pretoria but the numbers are growing quickly. Always fun to grab a flat fus to just break away from the expensive models. Sorry I'm not a member of the above mentioned group anymore but I'm sure one of them will come on here to help you out soon. Can't remember if they had an account activasion thing that was sent out via email when registering anymore cause I registered on there years back.
If I can help in any other way let me know! There's no hot 3D profiles in South Africa but the guys from OMP and Paul Swany will mail you a kit from the states for a very good price. I can also help you get an ARF from a friend of mine up in Israel.
Cheers
Rudolf

Thanks for the reply, could you give me some prices on some kits including shipping.Ive been on the phone everyday and no hobby store in Cape Town sells these profile kits.(they only stock electric kits).Id really appreciate it.I have an ASP 52 motor and im looking for a funtana 46, katana 46 or mojo 46 kit to use it with. Its really frustrating searching for something and nobody stocks it....

Hi Warren,
I've never ordered anything from Paul Swanson but that's simply because he only recently got a way for us guys from South Africa to pay him for the stuff. Paypal didn't allow South African accounts for ages too and they recently opened that door up for us to pay guys across the pond that doesn't have credit card fascilities. So yea all the profiles in my fleet is planes designed by Mike Pilkenton from Ohio Model Products. I checked Paul's site now and he quotes $92 on the website for a mojo 40 and shipping international. I'm guessing that's also normal airmail. You can see all that at this link [link=http://www.swanyshouse.com/mojo/mojo.html]MOJO[/link]
The OMP planes vary in price a little but you can go see for yourself at www.ohiomodelproducts.com.
I see Mike's hottest new baby the Fushion X3D .46 kit sells for $109.95 plus $35 shipping. The other bunch of 47" profile kits he sells like my all time favourite (I'm still saving up for a Fushion) the Yak-54 goes for $79.95 plus $35 shipping. You can get hardware packs from OMP too and of course all their kits include Tetherite landing gear. You can check out the Yak page at this link [link=http://www.ohiomodelplanes.com/47yak/]YAK[/link].
OMP also does Paypal but they can also help with a normal credit card transaction if you need to.
Please let me know if I can be of more help!

Thanks im busy building a SPAD 3D but im going to save up some $$$ and buy 1 or 2 profiles. Is there any reason why nobody stocks these planes. My brother works for WATER JET TECHNOLOGIES,in Cape Town and the his boss wants to start building some sort of rc planes. They use CNC water jet cutters(its similar to a cnc laser cutter). If theres a big market for profiles im sure he will give it a try and it will be nice to actually get these in SA.Im mad about these planes and wish that some1 could start selling them here.

Well see that is exactly the problem. There is virtually no market for profiles in South Africa compared to all the other fat fuselage models out there. People just don't like the look of the profile fuselage for one and well truthfully there is not many people in the country that 3D. There is alot of them that think they 3D but yea not a lot that can or want to do the book. I'm sure if someone managed to get these things in ARF form into the country for a good price the popularity might pick up but that's the only way I see a possibility of things improving. Even still you'd have to try and match the price of something like the Funtana .40 and at the prices JK are getting those things into Africa that's going to be difficult cause I've learned they don't import 5 at a time.

Warren there is one more hope for a profile ARF in ZA in the near future that I forgot about. Neil Houker (An old friend of mine) has just released the Zero G ARF and there is a very good chance we'll see that here. He's planes used to come in under the name Lan Yu here in ZA but he's since changed factories so the name and quality will possibly change. I'm not a big fan of the Lan Yu stuff as they were still not the best of quality but we can balance that out with the price the stuff sells locally. I'm still trying to get a hold of one of these profiles to give it a test drive and i'll let you know if I make more progress.
