Well I spent all summer learning to hover. Finally I got it. Now I'm tail touching my Magic all day long. Can't wait to try it out on something bigger. Here's some pics We took today.

That great guys. I gave this thread it's title because yesterday, everytime I would tap the tail I couldn't help but yell WAHOO!! I love this stuff.

A guy in our club learned to hover and t-roll last year. It was so cool and scary (like diving into a trailer to avoid being hit) watching him practise on the H-9 Utlra Stick(1.20) and then the H-9 33% cap. He was the only one in the club that could do it and we all wanted to be able to. So I grabbed up a Magic and a Giantscaleplanes.com 1.20 size Katana. The first flight on the magic was awesome it was the first time I truly had unlimited vertical with an OS .46 and macs pipe. After working and working I could hover high Ok. I did a lot of reading here, and moved the CG back a lot. All of a sudden it seemed to just click. I could get it lower and lower, it was real twitchy at first, but it's getting better. When I started trying to tail-touch there would be times where I would get messed up on the throttle or just got scared and dumped it from a foot or two and had to replaced the landing gear wood a few times. Both of the wing tip bottoms broke off from unsuccessful recoverys. But now I can do it all over the runway. The Katana was the first plane I had that was over a .40 size. I don't like the way it flys. I want to get the new ARF from AW of the 80" profile extra funfly. I believe it will be even easier to hover and t-roll with. Well that's how it got started and I don't plan on going back.

it takes a whole lot of flying to find the rudder works, then you point it up quite high and have a go, when you can silde downwind till you need a tank of fuel to get home come in low and slow, hover into the wind and pull up and up a little more slowely over the next few mins, this learns rudder control and low enough to see, REMEMBER!!! your low now, if you screw up you wont break much so relax. come in on a great pass, slow to a stall with nose up and give it full throttle to wipp it up then back to stop it climbing, keep it there and jugle the throttle if you need to ( i was mad on the throttle ) that should get you going, for the first few times entry is very important. but you'll go from not hanging to doing it in just one tank and then its easy, really.
Now... time for me to learn the next bit round and round and round
