Hi guys!
Soon i'm going to be building a Lanier pro twister. I would like to get some info on what kindda settings, mixing use on your radio gear and whar kindda hardware you like using on your profile. For example what would be a good size/pitch propeller for this plane. i'm planing on using a OS .46FX and the main thing i wanna learn with this plane is hovering. What kind of setting you guys use on your radio to hover if any special ones?? I'm thinking bout using a futaba 6XAPS. Will this be a good matching radio for this plane? Just give any tips you might think will help a newbie profile pilot to set this like a pro!
Sorry for asking so many questions guys but people at the field can be real a**es sometimes when you try to get some questions answered.
Seems that doesn't happen so much in here i guess. Well anyway any guys form the profile brotherhood or anybody else want to share tips!??
Dan

I fly my profiles with a T6XAS and its a good radio for it.
I am able to get spoileron mixing and flapperon mixing out if it.
You kinda Have to trick the radio a bit but you can do it.
For throws your gonna want to be able to get a lot. Use the dual rates and Expo to tame them down till you get used to the plane.
Then when you are ready, you can go back to higher setting for throws.

No special hardware needed. I used 2-56 30" rods for the ele & rud. nylon clevis's any standard servos will work. On the prop I try a few APC11X4,11X5, 11.5X4 maybe a 12.25x3.75 too.
I did splurge a little on hardware, I put Sullivan tail wheels on them....Gator

Try to hover without any mix on at first. I think it'll be easier to learn that way.
Enter the hover with little or no power. Dive the plane then pull it up with low power. As the plane comes to a stop in the vertical position try to catch it there with power. You'll figure out fast just how much to add. Then use rudder and elevator to keep the tail under the nose. Its kinda like balancing a broomstick on you hand.
If there is any wind, enter the hover while flying downwind. this will help keep the wings steady as its hovering. The wind will be on top of the wings pushing the plane belly first....
It takes a lot of time and practice but you'll get it eventually.

Hey
What about the CG of the plane?? I'm thinking that if is a bit tail heavy it will hover easier?? How far back can i move the CG back with out loosing a lot of the normal attitude of the plane?
