Default ModelTech Magic Extra: How is it????

Thinking of getting one and putting a Magnum .61 on it. Anyone out there have one. What do you think of it? How does it compare to the Magic?

Default ModelTech Magic Extra: How is it????

I got one for Christmas , I love it. It flies a lot like my U-Can-Do but is much smaller & easier to transport. I have a Saito 72 on mine & it weighs 4lbs & 8oz with an empty tank. For $120 you can't beat it. It's a lot better than the Magic , it'll actually knife edge. Is your 61 a 2 or 4 stroke. My Saito 72 weighs the same as an OS46FX. hope this helps you.

A 61 is way over kill. I have one with a Thunder Tiger 46 and it hovers fine with it with plenty of power to go verticle. Also you would have a lot of trouble trying to fit that engine in it. The 46 just bearly fits. The plane is much better than the Magic.

Default Magic Extra

I got one for Christmas also. Put a Magnum .40 on it...couldn't get it to run worth a darn, think it dead...RIP... Looking for a engine for it .... give your suggestions.... not YS $$$$$, prefer no Satio $$$$ I'm thinking that leaves OS, Thunder Tiger, Super Tiger........ I got a Fox .45 that I'm going to put in it, it's used so it may not run either......If it does I need one for my Hanger 9 .40 Cap. LHS said it was on sale for $125 how ya like that!!!!

I doubt if a 61 will fit in the nose, as an OS 46FX only just does.

Good model though . . providing you can sort out the many shortcomings in the building. There's a good thread in here with lots of pics etc you could look at.

Default engine..............

Well, I got the Fox .45 running pretty good...... only prob. is every once in awhile going from idle to WOT the engine would cut off. It would happen all the time, just sometimes. I could just imagine it cutting off just as I hit the throttle going into a hover. Soooo, I went to the LHS & came back with a new Thunder Tiger .46. Played with it in the yard & up & down the drive & it seems to run fine (rich until broke in). Accidently got it airborne on a run down the driveway & luckly threaded it through the space between a power pole & it's guide wire
awat- how old is your motor & how's it performed for you?

I have one with a Magium 40 and it flies great. Engine runs fine. As with all ARF's you run into a few problems with fit of some parts but after flying its worth the few problems.

My engine was new when I put it on my magic. Now I have two gallons of fuel through the engine. So far the engine has been great.
