Has anyone tried to stiffen the leading edge of a Pizza box by sliding a carbon fiber rod in the front flute of the coroplast?

Ben, I use a carbon fiber hollow arrow shaft zip-tied to the leading edge of my PBF. This allows you to fly faster than without one and stops some of the porpoising when you hit full throttle at level flight. The hovering suffers a little though because of the falling leaf syndrome as mentioned in other threads. It does make the PBF more indestructable though, if that's possible.

Ben,

Things with Wings has just the size you need. I have tried none, one in front, one in back and both. I like it with both and leave it that way. This thing does some of the craziest stuff. You just have to laugh the whole time you fly it. The PBF virus spreads along the front range.......

The PBF guru in our club makes all his PBF's with one wood dowel in the font edge flute, and a second 4 flutes back. This seems to give just the right amount of stiffness (not too much, not too little).

Dale,
You put one in back? Good idea! Did you put it in front of the elevons?

BTW, I know Things with Wings have them I help Jim out all the time. I'll bet I've seen you there.

They are a kick to fly, I had my first one last Winter! When I first brought it out to the field, people did more laughing at it, than when it flew!

Ben,

Yea, I put it just in front of the elevons. It really seemed to help the stability. The coroplast developed some curve to it and I noticed that the surfaces did not always go back to neutral. The CF rod made the straight and the surfaces go back to neutral always. It really helps on the hovers I think.

Yea, You have probably seen me up at Jim's if you spend time there helping him. He runs a great airplane store.

Hmmmmm, bread sticks might work, although cheese sticks might stick better.

Cinnasticks even come with their own pot of glue!

Default PBF

Put a carbon rod at the leading edge, and trailing edge. Make it fly great.
