Default Does the Flip 3D really hover with a 46?

I have not read all the threads on the flip 3d. So if this has been answered already, sorry. It's just that I hear talk of planes using a 46 being able to hover and then it seems they do not quite make the grade.

So...Does the flip 3D hover with a 46? I have a 46 heli engine I'm thinking of sticking in one but just want to make sure.

Also... for you fun fly masters. What other airplane should I consider. Prop size to use, targeted eingine RPM. All suggestions and feedback are appreciated.

P.S. Flew are profile thunder tiger with an Os46 FX but it had trouble hovering using a 11x6 and 12x4, so I sold it. Had CG moved back the the rear limit. Again, motor seemed not to general enough thrust.

Thanks

My son has a Flip 3D with a YS 45 side exhaust engine inverted, swinging APC 12.25 x 3.75 hovers easily. Models weighs 5lbs-2ozs. built completely stock...

Friends have the Flip with OS 46FX's, again easy to hover...

Default Flipper

The 46 will hover the plane well. Try a few different props to find what you like best. The prop will make a big difference in the way it flys.

Try 11-4, 11-5, 11.5-4, 12.25-3.75, APC's.

Flew one today with a regular OS 46 FS. Not the performance of the 50, but that heli version should be a bit better than the regular 46.

There are a few threads in the 3D section about the Flip. Here is the best. http://www.rcuniverse.com/showthread...08&forumid=230]

Thanks guys. If the 46 FX works, then the heli version should do the trick. I'll try different props on the motor and check out the Knife.

Default Billy Time to sell the Knife

The Knife was my all time favorite since I got it last Spring. I too was a Knife deciple until......

I flew my Goldberg Extreme 330 this weekend for the first time. This plane has all the great characteristics of the Knife and then some. Flys slower, better Knife Edge performance (if you can believe it) very little coupling. On the first flight I held 1/2 rudder at 1/2 throttle and watch it do a Knife edge loop without touching the right stick! I admit that was a little lucky but I have to add no aileron and very little elevator in knife edge. Maybe I just got a good one? I think this will be my new favorite. The engine is new so I haven't brought it down in a hover yet.

This one is a winner
