I went to a copy place called Sir Speedy. I wanted to copy my Speedy Bee plans so I can make scratch building templates. They informed me that they can increase or shrink the size of the prints with a touch of a button. I would like to make a 40 size with a 60" wingspan, that would be an increase of 150%. You would have to play around with the size of the wood using. The 1/4" square strips would become 3/8", the 3/16" square strips would become 9/32" Can you find 9/32 square stock? Never checked. I think it would be very cool. Thought I would pontificate endlessly again about the Bee syndrome!

That's good to know. I want to make a tiny profile for my desk. Sounds like this would work. I also would like to have a .40 size Clancy bipe. Sounds like I can do that too. Where would you get your ribs cut?

I've read too many times the wood in Speedy/Lazy Bee kits are bad. I don't want to remake parts for something I bought. I have a few questions in to Adrian about what specifically comes with the New Bee kit and building. I may get one just to keep me busy (like I need more things to do!)

How about covering it with poly ripstop ? ? ?

Texas 3D: if you have any other experiences to share about the New Bee flying characteristics, I'd like to hear about them.

Default Speedy Bee Rules!!!!!!

What do you guys think about adding wheel pants to a
Speedy Bee, just like the New Bee to improve the looks
and flight performance?
I think it would look cool and add to the Pylon Racer Look!!
I'll have to make them out of wood so I can Monokote them
in order to match the neon yellow on mine.

DFWS,

I suppose it would work if the Trexlers fit when they deform under weight of landing, etc.

Looks vs. performance vs. weight....

DFWS,
Take a look at the Stagger Bee from Clancy. It has wheel pants but they are rigid and the suspension moves up and down while the pants are stationary. Honestly, I think it would look very cool! I would only do it with a glow fuel motor. Electrics need to be light as possible. Every ounce of weight added to an electric, shortens your flight time. A four banger would be the answer in my opinion.

I chose larger tires and an extra long axle. The axle is a case hardened music wire. Very strong and not brittle. The wider wheel base give me more stability when on the ground. And of course I could not resist adding the monster truck shocks!

By the way.......I am building a new one now.....I will post some photos soon. This will be a winner! I will give you guys a clue about my last one.....inverting the motor was a pain in the butt! I do not recomend that at all. My new one will be upright but I will not use the small tank in the engine nacelle. I will use a larger one mounted in the fuselage along with the Perry regulating pump since the carb will not be level with the tank. It will be sweet when finished!!!!!!

My sugestion is - Dubro Scale Cub wheels. They are big (kinda) like the Trex. wheels But a little tougher and they come with Hubcaps that can be painted to match(?).

Dubro Scale wheels are way too heavy. I have recently found that Kavan makes inflatable super light wheels that work great on my big autogyros along with most of my Bees....
