the aileron horns worked out just as well. i'm going to be sad once this build is over. this is the coolest plane i have built so far.

Vince, those are VERY impressive horns you built. Heck, you might be careful or you'll be getting orders for bags of those horns from all the pro bros! haha How did you fasten them into the structure? Did you glue in some hardwood supports or strips to distribute the loads? They look like similar horns to giant scale rudder horns.

RE: OMP FusionX3D 40 Build!!
hey mike,
thanks, i LOVE them! i glued in some support pieces where there was nothing in the aileron, behind the stock block that is already
there. for the rudder and elevator i just cut holes for them to fit in tight.
they were just mocked up as you saw them. i will cover the plane and then epoxy the horns in.
question, does it matter that the engine mounts a bit off center? i know most profiles are like that but just wanted your opinion.

So why did you put the throttle servo in the wing??? That will give you problems I think in the long run unless you permanenly install the wings. No problems with the engine slightly off center. That is very common for profiles. The right thrust you will put in the engine will correct for this.

i put it there because when i had the arf, the throttle servo got to soaked with glow fuel. so i picked a spot that fuel never got to on the wing and put it there. i don't take this plane apart except for repairs.

Keep it coming, looks like a nice slab in the making. Hey, on the throttle servo, did you have a leak in the exhaust system that was shooting oil on the servo? Just wondering how it would get fuel all over it?

fuse is covered and wings. just the tail group to go. i epoxy coated the wing roots, engine mount, hatches, and servo holes. yes! never took the time to do that before. usually i have the thing at the field before it really finished correctly. not this time!

this thing is great! i felt right at home after 2 minutes. i have the CG right at 5.75 and it seems perfect. i think my last one was a little to nose heavy. this fusion feels a lot more connected to me because i had pretty sloppy linkages and servos on the first one and this one i got new elevator and rudder servos and used my homemade horns with all ball links.. MUCH better. i used a 6 ounce tank and got 10 minute flights with a little left for the .82 with apc 14-6. it ended up around 4.5 pounds. video still to come!
