Hey Mike. That is a friend of mine's backyard. It's my new favorite field and if no problems present themselves, also the scene of my next video. It has at least a 800 foot runway. One of the neighbors flies a powered paraglider from the strip! The only thing to worry about is a nice pine tree out in the middle of the field. Yesterday i took off the Fusion, rolled inverted, and the horozontal stab clipped a few branches off. We were all waiting for it to hit the dirt real hard, but there was no damage! You should have heard it! Sounded like the wing was ripped right off! I landed it and pulled some pine needles out of the space between the counterbalance and the stab.

This build ain't over! I decided to re-paint the gear and wheel pants since i really rushed it the first time. Here they are after wet sanding, ready for a couple coats of auto-primer, white paint, and then auto clear. I also jsut recieved a 1400 Mah 4.8 battery from Radical RC, it is 1.2 ounces lighter than what i have in it now.

I need to figure out how to get some more color on this thing also. I like the "utility" style of a simple scheme, but it is just to plain right now.

Hey come on now, we don't want you to trash that nice new plane too early in it's life! I agree you need some graphics to dress up your scheme. If you don't have a local graphics cutter our local hobby shop here also does graphics cutting and has all the OMP logos already. Let me know if you need the contact info. We've also painted the tetherite landing gear with awesome success. Paint them like you would any other fiberglass material....good prep and a good fuel proof primer and top coat.

Hey Guys

Just bought the kit do you think an Evolution 52 has enough jam for good 3D. Im heading down to the city on friday and they have one in stock that i thought i my buy. Oh ya what would be a good prop for this combo. I'm still new to this and want to get it right first rather than be frustrated.

Thanks

Steve H

Well, if i was thinking about doing a glow 3D plane right, i would get a 4 stroke. Just personal experience. I don't have any experience with the engine you mentioned, but i do know that the saito .72 or .82 is great for this one and also the YS .63.

i am using a 14-6 with 15% on my .82 and it is good. i would try a 13-6 for the .72.

Yes the .72 will be a great choice for the Fusion and will offer plenty of power. I have no idea about the Evolution 52 but if it is a 4-stroke then I doubt it will make you happy on any 40 size 3d plane. Not that it is a bad engine but probably just not enough power for a 40 size 3d plane.

Well... I ordered mine last night!!

Looking forward to my first kit! I'm going to put a OS .61 in it... I've had the engine in my OMP Katana, but it is about time to retire that one.....

The Evo 52 is a two stroke engine with a very good power. A friend of mine has one in his Burrito, as I can recall he had transition issues with a very rich middle range. Full throtlle the Burrito had very good vertical. This was with the 12.25 x 3.75 APC.
Maybe you cna find him here as Romanrc. Try to PM him for further details.
Saludos.

Huh, did not know about that engine. Just figured with an odd number like .52 it was 4-stroke.

Hi Bolio,
I have not flown it yet with them on, but i wouldn't think it would change the way it flies. Just makes low slow inverted harriers look even cooler. Why a fiberglass cover over the wheels helps aesthetics is beyond me. It really cleans up the lines of the plane and makes it look more complete. I used a set off a plane i crashed a long time ago, but i think OMP sells them on their site. Video? The weather has not been to great here, but i will have one as soon as i get a good day with the camera.

By the way we were able to pick up several boxes of fiberglass wheelpants aftermarket for use on the Fusions. They are pretty low cost and can be ordered via phone or the website. I agree the Fusions look MUCH better with the wheel pants. I've had mine on both for about the last year now and folks really comment on them at the field. Good job Vince!

I was at the field flying it today. It no longer has wheels pants. Guess the crash they went through on the UcanDO was about all they could take.

Hmm, grasss is hard on wheel pants for sure. I guess I'm lucky as I have a 150' x 7000' runway to fly off of. [8D]

Mike,

When do you anticipate having the Fusion X3D 46 kits back in stock?

Thanks,

Erik

I'm swamped with other kits and design work right now and because I do all the kits myself...and Forrest helps a lot, it may be a month or 6 weeks. They seemed to have sold out very quickly here lately and honestly I just got caught without them! By the way we just dropped the price on the solid yellow and solid white 52" Fusion ARFs because the kits are out of stock. Check them out at only $139 they are a steal. For only $30 more than the kit, you get a built and covered Fusion with hardware. You can't beat that deal. Even if you strip all the covering off and put your own on they are still a great deal compared to the kit.

Wow, thanks for the speedy reply! That sure is a tempting price on the ARF, but I don't need the plane/kit this minute. I'm just finishing up a GP Reactor and then I have a MoJo 60 waiting in the que, so it will be several weeks before I'm actually ready for the Fusion. Perhaps the timing will work out such that you have kits available when I'm ready to start something new.

Thanks,

Erik
