Hey guys
I am 14 and I've only been into rc planes for about 4 1/2 months but I have had a opportunity to fly at Triple Tree flying field in Greenville SC. every day so I have progresed a little faster than your average flyer. And my interest is is in flying in TOC one day. But as of right now I am working towards competing in jr. competitions this fall. I am starting to work on a Carden Aircraft 35% Edge 540 but until that gets finished all I have is a magic with a super tiger 46 . And I need to make it as aerobatic as possible so I have something to practice on. I,ve done everthing I can think of such as alumanim servo arms, putting the batterie in the tall, carbon fiber servo tray and just a few other small modifications.I was wondering if you all had any other sugestions on making it 3D and making it look better. And do you know of anytipe of CF landing gear for it.And would you recomend CF landing gear? Thanks you very much for your help.

I admire your tall leap from the Magic to the Carden Edge. The magic is a very versatile design and can be set-up for many different styles of flying. Do you have a computer radio? Ring-it out, try elev/flap coupling, airbrakes, ail/rudder mixing and any other kind of mixing you can do. Just to understand what everything does and how it affects the airplanes flying characteristics. Is the Magic all you've ever flown? It falls into what I like to call the "powered kite" group. It can be misleading as to what your actually flying - the engine or the wing. Granted, you can do the same thing with an Edge but when a double tapered airfoil quits flying(snaps) on you, you'll be the 2nd to know....the ground will be the first.
The CF ldg. gear sounds like a good idea, I hear the stock one is not so good? By all means, move the CG around, just be cautious as you move it aft. An aft CG will make your Magic more aerobatic and make your wing more efficient but inherently less stable. Its great to see someone so young, so fired up about flying, especially this time of year, when schools in.

Hey Thanks alot Airworthy! That helps alot. I have gone through 2 pairs of landing gear for the magic(and I don't land hard, honest) so I you sure are right when you say the magic landing gear breaks! yes I have flown many other planes there are some guys out at my field that own 40% and they are kind enough to let me fly them a good bit. And a also have or had a Morrison knife but my engine cut while I was hovering about 6-8 ft. off the ground so you can figure the rest out on your own lol. I have been messing with the cg a good bit and it has really helped.I would REALLY like some carbon fiber landing gear but the only thing I can make out of CF is a servo tray so do you know were I mite be able to find a set of landing gear or do you know of anyone that has the skill to make a pair? Aslo does anyone make a CF prop in a 11x4? I know thats small but I would love to have one! If you look in the gallery under fun fly(think it's the 3rd page) there is a guy with a magic and he has some kind of cool looking metal or aluminum piece on his fire wall. Does anyone happen to know what that is? Thanks again

I could make you some CF landing gear for your magic. I just need the dimensions. It's going to take about 2 weeks because im in the middle of making gear for a 36% Edge, 4 sets of gear for a Giant Scale OMP Edge, and then you.

Hey that sounds great I will need to check with my mom considering I am only 14 lol. But I'm sure there won't be any problem. I would like to do it somewhat like the landing gear it came with but I want to make it solid but I will write back and give you all the details just give me a little bit of time to work that all out. And what do you think that will cost me? Thanks. LATER

Cooldog, I had CF gear built to the size of stock gear, it was WAY too stiff, even with efforts to keep gear mounts in the fuselage it failed with anything less than a floater of a landing. I solved the gear brakage problem by makeing gear the same as stock but out of 1/8" piano wire... No more problems, but still soft enough to force that spot landing.

I know a guy that makes CF props but he has a minimum order of a dozen, @ $20 a copy. Unless it is something he does not have to make a mold for, he makes and stocks several sizes. Lemme know if you're interested, I'll give you his email. He did a rev-up 10x4 for me.
