Fusion90/OS91 Spring Sale
I'm thinking of getting the Combo, I have OS 1.20 AX NIB. I want this one to be the lightest of all of them, I'm not worried about the extra $$ of the combo. Should I go with the 90 engine or use the 1.20? How's the Fusion 90 now that you all have had them a while, the threads seem to have died off? I'm also planning on a CF tuned pipe or moose-can.

RE: Fusion90/OS91 Spring Sale
go with the 1.20 that you already have,i got one with a YS 1.10 and the battery is behind the wing tube, with the OS 91 you would half to put the battery up front where they supplied a hatch for it,my CG is 8" from leading edge and flys with no down when inverted, one of the BEST flying planes i have, flys like a pattern plane and 3ds better than any in its class, everyone should have one even if you don't like profiles, this one will change your mind!
ENJOY!

RE: Fusion90/OS91 Spring Sale
Too late, I just placed the order. Now I might have to try both engines to see which one I like best. I really want to go ultra light so I think I'll try the 90 first with a light pipe. I'm looking for a glow plane that will help me improve my 3-D flying, hope this is it. I have a .60 Do,Velox,Ultra RC Giles & DV(DV not done yet)

RE: Fusion90/OS91 Spring Sale
A little weight on the Fusion 90 is not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, I liked mine a little better when it was heavier. I initially flew it with a Saito 150 at 7lbs 12oz. It was great. But I wanted to try to lighten it up some and put a Magnum 91 2 stroke on it. Got the weight down to 7lbs even. Still flew great, but didn't handle the wind quite as good. The point is, don't sweat a few ounces on this bird. It won't make much difference at all. The 120 would be killer on it, and I'd use it if I had it.

Joe is absolutely right, the Fusion is very light to begin with and does handle the extra weight just fine. Especially for pattern work, the extra weight helps follow-through for many manuevers. John Drake's Fusion weighs about 7 3/4 lbs and that's the one Andrew Jesky flew in the video we have online. Not bad at all.

I got the UPS confirmation; 5 LBS??!!(box, shipping material & plane) Man, it must be as light as they say. Now I'm confused, I could sell the 90. I figure a moose can pipe on the 1.20 would save a few ounces over the stock muffler & help the transition a little, now if I could only watch someone make a moose-can pipe?

I have been running one for over a year now in X100 & now the Velox RII, its good for up to a 9lb plane & then it struggles to pull out from hovers. The Fusion should be a breeze @ 7-8lbs. A mousse can pipe & header would make it lighter & give it a little extra. That stock muffler weighs 1/2 pound.

RE: Fusion90/OS91 Spring Sale
I got it last eve & checked it out. Nice looking plane, the fuse side area is WAY bigger than it looks in pictures & vid.(think of the KE !!!!) It seems strong, the wing panels are VERY light, the ailerons are super strong, all sheeted & kind of heavy. The LG & wing tube seemed to be the heaviest parts of the plane?? CF would reduce a few oz. I bet, if its available. The fuse is a little warped but its adding right thrust the way it is, I might leave it in to see how it flys, a little heat gun on one side might straighten it if needed. The covering is great looking, the plane should "present" itself well, specially in a low hover right in front of me, which is my plan for this plane. I have a good feeling about this one, now, which engine, OS 91 & pipe? Or OS 120AX????????????????

Mixmaster...
You and I chase the same planes. I'm guessing that's because we're always seeking the best flying plane possible.
I have a Fusion...2nd one in fact. Mine has, as you may guess, the mighty 110 for power. Mine weighs 7lbs 9ozs. I love the way it flys.
This is the only plane I have that has zero wing rock in harrier. It's a delight to fly and hovers great. It is the first plane I tried the rolling harriers with and since I'm starting to do this maneuver with my other planes.
It does great waterfalls, hovers, flips, rolling harriers, harriers and overall I love it. It's weakness in my mind is KE. Compared to your Velox the Fusion is terrible at KE. I have done some mixing and got it where it does them pretty decent...but the Velox does them with no mixing and does them better. Flat spins aren't as good as the UCD and I can't get my Fusion to do a rising flat spin.
I had trouble getting the wires back to the elevator servos. I use two servos in the tail. What I did on the 2nd plane was just cut the coverering open and cut away the balsa sheeting on the fuse where the wire channel is. Then you can get your hands on the wire and get them in the slots. THen it's easy...then you just cover it back up with monokote. The 2nd plane it was easy. The first time around I wasted about 4 hours and ended up doing it the same way. Difference was I was stinking mad when I cut the fuse open and I wasted a lot of pent up energy cutting the fuse. Needless to say...I had to do a little more repair work.
thanks
Barry

RE: Fusion90/OS91 Spring Sale
I had 2 Morris Hobbies Su-Do-Kois, & did a lot of fiddling with channels & wires, sounds like it will be similiar. Yes, I'm STILL looking for that perfect plane that REALLY DOES EVERYTHING AT THE EXPECTED WEIGHT. I want it to be easy!!! Are there any CF or composite tubes & LG for the Fusion? I'm starting to like the Velox a little more now that I got it to harrier better, I just need to cut the weight down, for some reason, the 1.20 AX is at FT to hover???!! Maybe 15% will help?? Are you kidding me on the KE with the Fusion??!!! That fuse must be over 12" tall at the canopy & in front of CG, what KE issues are you having?? Coupling to belly or canopy?? Its hard to imagine not getting it into HA KE. I can see it might not spin so good, its flat fuse & generous side area will resist spinning I bet.

RE: Fusion90/OS91 Spring Sale
Mine coupled pretty bad to the wheels. But after mixing it does KE well. Just when compared to the Velox...not a good/easy.
I really like the Velox tough. Very fun. Kinda like a well built UCD that will KE. Ha Ha.
Thanks

RE: Fusion90/OS91 Spring Sale
Don't get me wrong...I really REALLY like the Fusion. But mine, for whatever reason, pulls to the wheels on KE. I've done a radio mix to correct it and I'm happy with the way it flys. I will measure incidences and check wing weight. Mine was pretty heavy to the fuel tank at first and I added an ounce to the RH wing tip. That helped a bunch.
Again...the Fusion is a great flying plane. I love the way it Harriers with zero wing rock and I like everything else also. But, I stand by my opinion that it doesn't KE as good as the Velox.
Thanks
Barry

Tailtwister...
I'm at work so I don't have my notes. But I'm thinking it's about 8 1/4". Seemed like a lot but when I asked on the forums I was told since it's a double taper wing it seems like a lot but really isn't. I think I'm on the rearward mark of the recommended manual settings.

That sounds about right. I thought 8.5 was about the max for neutral flight.
I'd look into incidences next time you are in the mood to tweak. Ailerons centered and all that stuff...

Please also check for even the slightest bit of down thrust. I seem to do this with every other plane. Almost done and rushing etc. Down thrust in the motor will cause gear coupling faster than anything else and is often overlooked. Just my .02
