the Airplane Blanace well at 4.5" ,offcurse after that you will learn the behivore of it
and will "play" with the CG to fit your flying needs.

The SFG helps in few ways, the long tail of the 260 makes it little less wider
than other profiles, this because it designed to do some precisions, so those helps
to increase the side area of the airplane.
Placing them on wing tips makes much easier ruddar control on knifes
and the ones who fly it can see how easy is to loop while knifing.

It also helps with high speed flight, testing showed that in high speed flight
with it on the airplane will be more precise and controls will be more efficiant,
this can be argued a lot but therefore it was designed to be removable in ease,
so anyone can basicly try the same manueveres with and without it in just seconds
so it is same whether, same day, same time to really learn how it effects
on the flight and see how different it is.

answering on whether it can be used on other profiles,
STL answered, you'll need to have the mount prebuilt in the wing tip.
Defently not for katana, the Kat V2 46 and the 260 P46 are totaly different designs
and would not fly the same at all.
I will strongly recomand not to use those on it.
Can't say on other designs.

Most of the people I know fly the 260 with them and love it.

So if I am just after 3d and not patterntype flying, they will not be of any use, and they can just as vell be of?
do they have any effect in blenders and flatspin?

and if I am understanding correctly, the kat v2 is just as good to 3d and flatspin-type of things as the 260 even with the sfg, but the 260 is better for precise lineflying?

They are of no use when only 3D'ing, or very little. But the good part is that they won't reduce the flight characteristics until you kick up the speed. So if you are going to perform a combo flight, then you have the best of both worlds.

The Katana is a better overall 3D flyer, it's got a thicker wing, but not by much. But it tracks poorly if you want to do a combo flight. It's really just a great 3D flyer, one of the best ever made.

So if you want something that opens all envelopes, the Extra will perform better. Something for just 3D only, then go with the Katana.

Just to make the point easier to understand, the 260 would probebly do the same things
with and without the SFG, however they help to make some things easier or/and more precise.

the TMPro Katana V2 46 is a pure 3D profile for basic till advance level, so if 3D is all you want in
basic standards the Kat will be best, if you wish to get more progressive airplane that will 3D and more
so the 260 is the one.
If you just about to start with profiles or 3D so I will suggest the Katana as its just easier to manage,
the 260 designed different and its harder to fly. (watch the video again and see what the 260 so good at)

Today many pilots like to fly what they called IMAC, and thats what the 260 is all about,
to be able making any 3D manuavers while doing it in pattern and precise, with low and high speed.
Offcurse you could say that you can do that with any profile, also trainer can hover with the right setting,
but the thing is to do it the best possible, for that you need the right design.

Hope that clear some points and make sence to you...

So the 260 P is a hard plane to fly for an intermediate pilot? I thought it tracks well like a pattern plane. It looks like it does from the video?

(Currently flying Excelleron 50, Sukhoi SU-31 etc.)

The 260 P46 is HARDER to fly than the Katana V246.
Its mean that if you are a beginner, and wish to get a good profile that
will train you on the basic 3D manouvers the Katana will be better choice.

However, the 260, if you allready flown a profile before or/and know the basic of 3D
will do much better, much more precise, much agressive,
When designing the 260 there was no intention to make something better than the Katana V2-46,
the intention was to create something different, in higher level, so if the Katana
is the right choie for any beginner, the 260 will be the second profile choice,
doing everything the Katan does and more..

Clear as mud. Na just kidding I think I get what you are saying but unless one has never flown a profile they'd have no idea.

In short: First profile buy Katana not 260P

In short: First profile buy Katana not 260P
allmost !
If all you want is to start withthe 3D "thing" than Yes, but if you can fly well,
and looking to mix few types of flight, than sure a 260 P46.
The Katana, and as far as I know any other profile can't fly as fast as the 260,
so if you need for your practice some speed go for it, the Kat will not spin so fast and sharp,
so again, if thats one of the features you are looking than the 260 P is the one...etc...etc...

The idea behind the TMPro 260 design was to bring not a competitor to the V2 46,
but something diffrerent thet can do what the Kat can't and more..

Now its sure clear as mud !!

Yeah no probs I get it

For 3D we have a Castle Creations foamy and a Hyperion Sniper a Radix 3D and a 25% Extra 260. So I think we,ve got the 3D thing covered

I think the 260P will cover what we are looking for, something different in our hanger and a ball of fun to fly.

I was going to put a 55AX in it but will start with a 46AX and see how it goes (since that was what it was designed around) and if we want more grunt then I'll pop the 55 in since they have the same mount holes.

Sean -

This week ya reckon?

Great video as useual. A few things cought my eye

1. early in video - inverted flat spin that started at 15 feet.[X(]
2. ascending blender into inverted flat spin.
3. rolling loop.

keep the great videos coming.
