Default What engine for CG Ex-treme 330?

Hi,
What engine is the most recommended?
YS .63 or OS .50sx.
You know I want rocket performance LOL

Both would work fine. Do you like 2 stroke or 4? You could almost have the Extreme and the 50SX for the price of the YS.

I have a .46FX with Tower muffler and it's plenty. The plane comes out tail heavy if you use standard servos in the tail so any extra engine weight isn't an issue.

The one I've seen up close had a piped 46 FX and 3 ounces of lead under the nose. It had standard servos in the tail. There was plenty of clearance for the 13 to 14 inch prop that the YS 63 or Saito 72 likes. I'd go 4 stroke or a 61 FX with the 14x4 APC.

I am using 225Mg's in the tail (1.1 oz each) and all the rest is standard. A .46FX with tower muffler all the way up front. I have a Dubro spinner (1.5 oz I think) and no lead. Balances perfect, just a touch of down when inverted

Default Engine

007. I have a OS FX 46 in my 330.It was a little tail heavy.Have fuel tank mounted in the right wing, that's more than likely why it was tail heavy. Had to move moter up. It's really fun plane to fly. Hope you have good luck with your's. Bee Craazy but be safe. Bee Craazy 1

Just a thought:

I own an OMP Edge and it has enough but not too much power at 4 lbs even with a .46 Pro (Thunder Tiger).

I think the Ex-treme 3D will come out at about 5 lbs (maybe less an ounce or two) from what I have read.

A regular .60 would be too heavy, but what about an OS .65 LA? It weighs about as much as a heavy .46 and should have better power. I flew a .46 LA for a long time, and it was no powerhouse, but it was reliable - and cheap too.

I don't own this plane, so I don't have any personal experience with this combo. I am just thinking outloud.

If money grew on trees, I'd try an Extreme with a Saito 100. My pal had one with an OS 46 plus 3 ounces of lead. Sounds like a good home for a Saito 100 to me...

CG 330 with Saito 100 WAO that have to be a killer combo maybe hover in idle

20.8 oz Saito 100 w/muffler
20.1 oz OS 70 w/muffler

I have 30% nitro CP heli

I used my CG Xtreme 330 to break in my Jett 76 torque version. It was a rocket with a 12.25 X 3.75 turning over 15,000 rpm's. A local flyin buddy bought it and installed his OS 61, which has the same mounting pattern. I flew the 330 most of last year with the Jett on it. It was a hoot!

No doubt a good 50 would be enough, but I'm thinking about putting a Webra 61 on mine.

My Saito 72 does 9,600 rpm on the 14x4. I'd go 15x4, or maybe even 16x4 on the 100. Probably a good compromise would be a good wooden prop in 15x6.

My Ys63 is on my knife arf. total dry weight is 5lbs 5oz. but the Ys handles it with ease. Pull out of ahover with full 11oz tank of gas is good..

So if the extreme comes in at 5lb even pull out would be real good.
