Having way too much fun with the whole profile thing!!!!

Here's a pic of my "new" favorite plane - the Gee Bee PQHOR .

Used the QHOR plans and added a "profile" plus a fully symmetrical wing. Flies great!!! Even a couple of the hard core balsa pattern fliers were checking it out.

People still can't believe you can build a plane for about $10.00....

It won't hover like a "regular" QHOR (just another reason to build a "real one"...hee...hee...hee), but it does everything else and more.

Looks great. I just finished a Taco. Can't believe there are simpler things to put together than that ! Just gotta figure where to get some Correx over here in the U.K.

Default Plastic TACO

Here is my version of the Plastic Taco. I took Pauls fuse plans, printed them out and only slightly modified it for my Awe-HOR #2 (a.k.a. PQHOR). Mine have oversized control surfaces over Tattoo's version of the PQHOR for Fun-Fly performance more in lines of my liking . Check out the movies of Awe-HOR#1 at:

Enjoy! Kevin

Paul - Its 36" WS with 12" cord plus 4" ailerons. U-Channel is 32" in length. All control surfaces are oversize <GRIN> (of course!). It has a TT36 w/ MCM, 3- Hitec 225MG (throttle, ailerons), & 2-Hitect 300s for Elevator and Rudder. I am not happy with the weight at 4 lbs even. My Awe-HOR#1 weighed in at 3-3/4 lbs. This one, Awe-HOR#2 will perfrom climbing flat spins unlike number 1, oddly enough. I guess the full semitrical wing overly compensates for the added weight. I still don't understand why this one is a 1/4 lb. heavier. I was hoping for 3-1/2 lbs total. I think that this one would be really awesome at 3-1/2 lbs, though don't see where I'd get it and still meet my standards. I guess one could go to nylon gears and mini servos all the way around, eliminate switch, and cut the fuse area down, since it won't knife edge anyways, and only one servo for both ailerons and get it down some. But this would not meet my criteria <LOL>. Never had any luck with nylon gears in those mini servos. I'm TOUGHHHHHHH!!!!! on servos! <LOL>
Next version needs to be a mid-wing like Chris' SPAD Edge

BTW- Love that Gee Bee! I have always been fond of the Gee Bee. Check-out my Wacky-Bee III design when you get an opportunity.

You're bet would be correct- Hacker. I used 2mm for the wing.
Sorry - no weight savings there!

Default Dan's Qhor

I will try to get the weight this week. I can not wait to fly at the Jefferson City EXTRAVAGANZA! on the weekend of the 16th with the big boys. ( http://www.mmrca.org/ )

Maybe Andy from the Mid-Missouri Radio Control Association will have his Gee Bee there. Maybe we can see who's Gee Bee hovers the best

I hope to see alot of QHORs in JC this year. I love flying a $10 airplane next to the $5000 airplanes.

Dang, I may not be able to make it that weekend. Maybe next time. I was a MMRC member back in the 70's.

Just built a QHOR. Lots of fun as long as you can tell which side is up :-)
