Default Laser Arrow Help

Could Use some help

I picked up a Laser Arrow from a local hobby shop.

My computer radio has dual rate controller and I would like to set the wing up for mild as well as wild. Does anyone know the amount of control surface deflection???

Thanks
Ian

Default Laser Arrow Help

I have the instruction manual here and it says.
minimum value- up and down 10mm
maximum value- up and down 20mm
i test flew mine on the low settings and it was enough but for fun it is always on about 30mm up and down, i usee negative exponential with the high rate.
for a test flight go for the minimum value and go up to suit your taste.
you will enjoy this model a lot, its the best birthday present i ever got!

Thanks for the Info I can't wait to fly this thing seems we have the same engine setup as well. Have you ever thought about putting on a tune pipe or is this thing fast enough?

Thanks Ian

Default Laser Arrow Help

when i first built it it had an irvine 46 and it was very good fun, nice vertical and speed, i needed that engine for something else and so i put in a sc40 that you see in the photo, i felt it deserved more power and since the photo was taken it is now being flown with a os45 fsr and full pipe, it goes vertical from launch to a dot in seconds and its nicely fast.
its not that fast a plane though-due to th thick wing section
it is quite slow with the sc40
what engine is in yours?

Default Laser Arrow Help

My Laser has the O.S. .46 FX Non-Ringed w/Muffler. I set the control throws today in the 9chp radio and have them set at 20 /15 and 10mm throws. The motor pulls very nicely with the APC prop not sure if it's the 11*6. I need to measure it. I did purchase a True Turn pointed spinner for it but haven't installed it yet.

Default Laser Arrow Help

Well Guy's I made a mistake

I flew my PT19 a few times around the pattern and decided to fly the Laser Arrow. Since I'm new to RC airplanes I figured I would let someone else take the wing up for it's flight. This was not it's maiden flight.

Big Mistake the older fellow in his 60s had his handful and watching him I new it was a mistake to trust him. The wing was like a rocket and man does it go. After approximately one minute it's life was over. The Wing hit the ground so hard that only the last 2/3rd was left. The engine separated and was filled with dirt.

He said that the radio was glitching and then failed who knows.

The morel of the story fly it yourself and if you crash at least you know who is to blame.

If your gonna get an old guy to test fly sommit make sure you have enough negative expo to take out his shakes ok kidding, but unless you know his history and skills dont trust anyone, i could in theory fly any plane some asked me too, but i'd still be wary of a type i've not flown, large or multi engined for example.
I always do my test flights now, if i can't do that, then i shouldn't be flying that plane, pretty simple rule.

PS throttle is a nice invention for slowing planes down

phillybaby & cabanestrut2002

You guys are right in fact the fellow after the crash tell me he always run -80% expo which shocked me. Since I am running anywhere from -20 to -35 depending on the model.

I replaced the Laser with a Viper Twin it a flying wing 55" electric twin man this thing is fun.

Not as fast as the Laser and it doesn't roll axial like the laser did but it loops and flys very good for an electric plane and did I mention it's FAST!!!. I am guessing the speed at around mid 70s.

I put 480 motors in it with a 1300mah 10 cell and Carbon props.
If your looking for a new electric flying wing toy this is the one to get.
