Default best 2-stroke for Topcap KIT

What do you guys think is the best (most performance) and reliable 2-stroke for the Morris Hobbies Topcap? I sold my Saito 72 because I needed the funds.

How is the performance with a 2 stroke on a profile? Unlimited or how is it?

Default 2 stroke

Thunder tiger 46! APC 12x4 prop!! Can't beat the combo!! Great running engine!! Perfect throttle response for hovering!! Cheap too! In case you ball it up!!

Here's a pic!

I ran a new OS 46FX on my Sudokhoi (kit) all last summer. Ran flawless and more than enough vertical. All stock parts.

Motors I have tried on 3D or profile planes:

OS 46
ST 45
YS 45
TT 46
Mag 45
Rossi 45
Webra 50
OS 50
OS 50-H
ST 50
Irvine 53

Several of them ran an Ultra Thrust muffler.

The most powerful: Irvine 53. I did remove the baffle.

On the exact same plane, I tried a OS 50, 50-H, YS 45 & the Irvine and the Irvine is still on it.

Default Shortman..

Shoot, there will be 10oz nuclear fusion powered engines that put out 1.43 gigawatts before Shortman finishes that TopCap.

My vote is Saito .72! Oh, sold that..HHhhhmmm..

Just kiddin' ya Shorty..if you are that strapped for cash, just get the trusty TT .46 Pro and fly!

I like the Irvine 53 but will try a TT46 with UT muffler (since I have one new in box) on my next Sudokhoi ARF. Otherwise I would buy another Irvine 53. Let's see how much power that TT 46 Pro really has.

I am going to start saving for a Irvine 53. I figured it would be the engine to get for this plane, plus is will match my anodized landing gear and the covering!

I will have this done (making prediction now) in 1 month. R-T-F depending on the engine.

I like my TT46, with and without moosecans. For $76 the TT.46 is hard to beat for the price. But I also fly with a few guys that swear by the Irvines.

but I would stay away from MDS, Megatech, and the older magnums, the old magnums are heavy. I haven't heard much about the new magnums on the XLS.

I have several newer Magnums, the .46 is one of them. It has been through hell and back a few times and continues to perform well. Almost has enough power to hover a Goldberg Cub with a 10x6 prop.

I think I have decided to use an Irvine 53 for a Pizazz I'm getting ready to put together. However, I'm having trouble finding a good supplier?

Where are y'all getting your Ivine 53s?

Actually we were hoping for something more along the lines of dilithium crystals

Shortman, did you ever finish your 1/4 540?

Just in case you didn't, don't feel bad, didn't finish mine yet either.

Maybe we could start a procrastinators brotherhood?

The king is the Jett 60 2 stroke. It's made to be a funfly motor and it's in a 40 size case. It uses a small muffler and it can swing a large prop. $$$ though.

Shortman,

Here is a link to a similar question when I was looking for an engine for my 40 size profile...LOTS of really good info.

http://www.rcuniverse.com/showthread...54&forumid=145

BTW, I ended up going with the Irvine 53 and can't wait to get it hung on my chip lite pro (Just about the exact size of the Top Cap)!!

I hope the link helps!!

If you'd try a Saito 72 the Irvine would be in the pile above...

Only joking 'cause I know you don't like YSs..but I sure like mine.

Funny, i just went from saito 72 to Irvine 53. Might go back and try the saito again sometime, but not in any hurry. That 53 is one trouble free powerhouse.

I have nothing against YS. The Saito's can be a little harder to fine tune but once they are no 2 stroker can compare in a fun fly.

I ordered another Knife kit that should be here tomorrow. I missed mine... however I don't have the funds to buy another Saito right now so I'm working a deal on a used OS46FX. Odds are it'll have a Saito on it before summers end though.

This 27% Extra I'm finishing up is hurting the ol'wallet. hehe
