Default Inverted PQHOR (upside down J-wing)

Total SUCCESS!!!
Better? Well no
Worse? Well no

Here's our findings:

Building---Even easier!!!!!
Harriers---slightly less stable, lower AOA
Inverted Harriers---WOW!!!!!!!! (don't forget...rudder is opposite!!!)
Roll rate---better
Inside loops---same
outside loops/waterfalls---Better...WOW!!!
Hover---less stable, more sensitive
High speed---rock solid, no hunting whatsoever
Wing flex---worse, but didn't effect anything
Dead stick---same/find place to land NOW
Flat Spins---same

Will you stick to the "old" style after building this one? Have you tried a flat wing? I think you have too much time on your hands

Why not just continue the top of the wing back and glue the trailing edge together like a conventional wing. Seems to me that should give the best of both worlds.

Please ignore this suggestion if you have already tried this. Those of us that only build one plane a week can't possibly keep up to you.

Interesting question, because we don't even know (Kraut actually built this experiment, and that's him flying it...I was taking the pics)...but the answer right now is yes, I like the original better...for some things...darn it's hard to answer this...but not for the inverted and negitive G stuff. It's very apparent that the AOA of the harriers favors the side of the wing that has the fold over...as the inverted harriers this thing does are showstopping. Regular harriers have a lower AOA than the original, and the higher angle of attack you go, the less stable it gets, and hovering is more sensitive. In a slow Harrier, it actually wants to stall to straight and level. I will add however that these are not drastic, as this plane does Harrier and hover real well. If you build one and fly it, you would have a blast and not be dissapointed at all. Straight and level flight at full power is awesome and rock solid, with no pitch hunting whatsoever...something the original will do when you are pushing the CG limit back. Where this plane excells is negitive G stuff. Wat the original does rightside up, this one does upside down Hopefully Kraut will get on here and expand a little...he's was the pilot

I think you have too much time on your hands
You'll notice Kraut is in uniform...now you know what we do at lunch time

Weight...plain and simple. The wing is the heaviest part of the airplane...to eliminate 1/3+ of that weight makes a huge difference...and we have also noticed that the rigid closed up wings are not nearly as stable (they rock) in slow flight and hovering.

Time to build one with a fold on both sides.
What do You think?

Default Greetings from Sunny Queensland.

Or maybe as was suggested; build it with the flat wing and insert wire in the leading and trailing edges for reinforcement.

Tattoo,

First off, thanks for a cool design, the battle of the Qhors and the pizza boxes are on at our field in South Carolina. All the big IMAC stuff is sitting and the coro is getting the air time!

How about those wire landing gear? Could you give us a quick Idea on how they are bent and mounted?

Mine is almost ready and I'm thinking of going with the wire.

Thanks again.....we are having fun!!!!
