I'm curious as to just how much servo the 46 size profiles need...

I've got 4 JR 8411's in my Extreme330, and I'm pretty sure that they're WAY more than I really need in there. I know I could knock a quarter pound (!!!) off the plane just by swapping four Hitec 225's for the 8411's, but I wonder if the 225's can handle the job... I'd also at the same time ditch the 5 cell 1100mah battery in favor of a 700mah or maybe a lithium pack... I know every ounce counts, and my 330 seems just a tad on the heavy side.

Anyone using Hitec 225's successfully on a 40-46 size profile, or should I look at something stronger?

Thanks,

David

I'd say it all depends on how intense you fly your plane. Are you an extreme 3d'er or just cruising around. Think about it before you make that choice. I had the same questions. Do a search in the radio/servo section then come to your own conclusions.

Well i've seen enough posts about gear failures and poor centering to scare me off the 225's. I guess I'll stick with what I've got for now, maybe just go to a lighter battery and look at some lighter kits than the 330 for next time.

I'm thinking of trying the GWS mini servos with metal gears in my next plane.
They have 89oz. of torque and weigh around .63oz.
I've got to call and get the details on which battery pack to use the 4 or 5 cell packs.

I'm using the GWS Pico servos in my IFO and their pretty tuff!!!
