Default Modeltech Sukhoi

how is it? how does it compare? i had the tmp extra, but it was pretty much crap, it flew alright, but was flimsy and poorly designed..... i ordered the Modeltech Sukhoi , because all the other big dog profiles were out of stock, i tried omp, chinn yak, mojo arfs, and none available,. http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/123741.asp

I just bought one second hand from a fellow in my club. He said that it was too much for him and it had just been sitting for while. I got it for a really reasonable price. So reasonable that I didn't ask if he had put it in or not. I checked it out top to bottom and it has definitely been flown but it is in very good shape none the less.

I say this to qualify my answer some what. I am having a blast flying mine so far. It is very light and flys as such. The roll rate is ballistic and it will pitch into a loop or a wall right now. I have a magnum .52 in it which is plenty of power and it will hover almost effortlessly with very little input at just about 3/8 throttle. It will harrier with very little wing rock. Knife edge is the only place that I am not all that happy with it so far. It has some pretty nasty pitch coupling in knife edge as well as some roll. I took the time to mix it out so it will now fly horizon to horizon in knife edge at half throttle very easily. So harrier rolls, continuous rolls, and really slow rolls are accomplished quite easily. It just gets a little harry when I go to do knife edge loops or really slow knife edge harriers. Not really sure how to correct that problem yet.

I had a Fusion 3d from OMP at the beginning of the summer and I just never felt as comfortable after four months of flying as I do after two weeks of flying this little puppy. Of course it might just be my style of flying but I really am having a blast with the Sukhoi.

If you dork it and don't break anything, then did you really dork it???

On mine the area which needs a little attention is by the landing gear mount, it is weak. Do a search as there a post on this minor mod and it does pay off as I didn't do it (first time) and after the repair, made the mod and had no problems. Also I had to program in some expo after which it flew perfect.

tube in the fuse, ala; mojo, chinn yak,fusion,primo,ect...

fuselage built around a carbon/glass form tube, helps prevent the fuse snappage at the trailing edge of the wing.

.........if you dork it and nothin breaks, thats just a hard landing[8D]

my e-setup would be the same, but with 2 2200mah 4s zippy packs, cheaper, and you can 'saddle bag' mount-em to the sides of the fuse.

you can get a set up with batterys from united hobby or value hobby for less than a new saito 82.

this is either for a new mojo, or slide 48.

I don't see a need for a 14x7 and I think it might over amp the motor!

Hi Rickc

Thanks for the electric conversion details.

Can I be a pain and ask a few more questions.....what is AUW read to fly, what typical flight times do you get out of the 3300's & how well does it pull out from hover?

Cheers,
Iain

no pain at all, ask as many questions as you like!!
auw is 4 pounds
flight timer is set to 6 minutes
hovers at 1/2 throttle and punch out from hover is great!
