Well from what I hear the Sledge is top for 3D (Finally ready to maiden mine) For good 3D and easy recovery as well as wild flips and spins the OMP edge is a good choice. For a budget minded fun-fly and 3D'er the SPA3D is a good one to go with.
So the question is what are your main interests and what is your budget?

i have had a few f flies and so far the sledge gets my 1st place with the s-koi going 2nd. i hear that OMP Edge huge 80 inches is great. I flew one today at a fly in (kinston NC) but i can say how it compares as all i did was fly around....the worst fun fly vote goes to the thunder tiger

I have been having alot of fun with my TopCap ARF. Have not found a manuever that it can not perform well. Like harriers and elevators how about stable upright and inverted. Also waterfalls that do not fall in to knife edge spins. Just does one after another all day long tight as you would like. The roll rate is axial and does high alpha manuevers well too. This is a great tumbling and spinning plane too. This plane basically can do it all IMO.

I really like my profile hots. I scratch build mine but a kit can be bought from Morris. Waterfalls, harriers, hover, it can do them all. Have a little trouble with the blender though.

If you want an ARF you can't beat the Morris line up or the Carl Goldberg 330. As far as kits go I give a big thumbs up to the OMP 540.
Remember the best one will always be the one you get the most comfortable with.

Prior to Jeff W. coming up with the world renouned sledge design, it seemed everyone loved the topcap, but now you hardly hear much about it. This has probably been hashed out before, but what makes the sledge so much better?

The best fun fly plane is a Minus for Turner Performance Products or a Plus from MS Models. This plane will scrub any other plane into submission in performance and competition. If you want a harrier, hover toy, etc... Go big, can you say Aeroworks? The rest is childs play. Dont take offense morris men, the guy asked what is the best, thought there could be some light shined onthe forum from just Morris talk.
Have a nice day!

My favorite is the Road Runner. I have the new pocket size E-Runner and it's a real kick. If you want big, go for the 90" with a gas engine. Check them out at www.funflyplanes.com.

), tail slapping the field dumpster and knocking my bud out of the sky with prop wash. As a rookie funflyer, I would have destroyed $$$$ of nice planes by now (old thumbs trying new tricks), but as it is, I've only gone through 3 of these...and my current one (in my sig) is on it's second fuselage and verticle (and one stripped servo). Doesn't knife edge very well, but does all the other stuff good enough for me. So for me and my time and my budget ($10 airplane) this plane is the best one, even though a Cap or a Knife would blow it away in knife edge. I don't know if you can get Coroplast (Correx maybe?) in SA, but if you can, this is a great 3D beater before putting a lot of time and money into a sweet airplane.

I like the Sledge way better than anything before. With the exception of my Su-Do-Khoi 60 that is. The presence of the Su-Do 60 in the air (it's pretty big) makes it a blast to fly.
The Sledge tumbles way better. I think the Sledge is much easier to fly knife edge. The coupling is less. The Su-Do slows down more before it gets shaky. The Su-Do does "prettier" spins. The Su-Do seems more at home in a high alpha. The weight of the Su-Do lets it tail slide easier.
Mind you all of this is base on about 35 flights on the Su-Do and less than 10 on the Sledge. After I learn the Sledge a little better, it may do a little better on those items.
I've tried:
Sig Ultimate (2)
Sig Fazer
Thunder Tiger Fun Tiger (2)
Thunder Tiger Lazy Cub (Yes, if set up right, it is a fun fly)
Hot Hots
Su-Do-Khoi 60
Sledge 540
FuntanaS 40
Somethin' Extra
Best ever is probably the Su-Do 60 followed closely by the Sledge. They may switch spots after another dozen flights or so.

By the way, as long as we are posting opinions, the FuntanaS 40 from H9 beats the Somethin' Extra (and probably the Pizzaz) in my book. For $165 bucks it is a real blast. It has some of the profile type fun fly capabilities, and looks like a scale plane. It bridges a gap between profiles, sport planes, and scale jobs. I like it a lot.
However, it doesn't hang with the Su-Do 60 or the Sledge in a 3D "Slug Fest". It's apples and oranges when put head to head in the air.
I just thought I'd throw that out there too.
