I am looking to start learning a little bit more of the 3D type manuvers. From what i have been reading everywhere it looks like profile planes are best for this. I have a 40 size glow enigine that needs a home and was wondering if anyone has any recomendations on a profile that would work good with this motor?
I found the thread about OMP and Swanys... I will let you know which i decide on.

I am open to both ARF and Kit.
The motor is an evo .41 i think, It came with my Alpha 40 trainer I retired.
I was looking at the OMP Edge 540 with the OS55 combo. If I go ARF I think i would go that route, If I go kit I think i will go with something that will take the motor I currently have.

OMP if you want a ARF, Swanys House if you want a Kit. I think OMP still has some kits also. Can't go wrong with either one. They both have planes that will fit just about any engine size. I currently have the OMPYak with an OS55AX Excellent combo. Yak is similar to the edge. The edge will be a little more stable if you are just starting to learn 3D, but still a very capable 3D plane.

FYI, the Evolution engine that comes with the Alpha 40 is actually a .45 size engine, but I don't think it's tuned for high power output. Mine's been a great, reliable engine, but it's power to weight may be a bit lacking for 3D performance.
I have a .55AX on my Mojo 40 and I love it.
Good luck. You are definitely headed in the right direction.
PS: Don't be afraid of building a Mojo from a kit. It is a really easy build.

If you can...built the Mojo and you will have the experience needed to repair it (eventually when it finally needs it
) and left over covering. The insight gained from kit building a Profile goes long measures in someone being successful with it!

I agree. Building from a kit is the way to go. the arfs from OMP are really nice and I've had a couple. I had the little Edge forever. The thing just wouldn't die. But repairing an arf can be daunting. And the bumps and bruises that go along learning 3D will force you to face this. If you take a few days to build a Mojo, that's right, a few days, you'll know everything about the airplane. You'll have the confidence to tackle any repair job. What's more, you'll be able to maintain it because you'll know what's going on inside the thing. And when you do need to make a repair, you'll be able to make it look like new because you'll have covered and finished it yourself. Truly the way to go.
