OMP Edge tank zip ties keep breaking
Hi guys, hey on my 47" Edge with Saito 82, the zip ties that hold the tank on keep breaking after 6 or eight flights. Has anyone had this happen? I haven't broken one on my Fusion with an OS 55AX yet so I'm wondering if the vibration from the Saito has something to do with it?
Do you guys pull the zip ties really tight? I was trying not to compress the foam rubber too much so maybe they need to be really tight.....
thanks for any input!
Ernie

Don't use Zip ties. I use rubber bands only on profiles. If you get the zip ties tight, the fuel will foam causing lean conditions at some RPM's.
I use 2 #62 rubber bands to hold up to 11oz. tanks. Bigger than that and it's 4 #64's.

Second that of Thumbskull. Dump the zip ties and get a couple of screw in hooks. Use the rubber bands and your problem will be solved. You could also use some piano wire and make your own hooks.

Thanks loads guys. My fuses already have holes drilled for the zip ties to go through...... so screw hooks are out I guess. I'll probably put a wire through the holes and bend J hooks on each end... ?
Thanks again,
Ernie

Hey if you liked that idea how about this...... I have a bunch of crappy 2-56 pushrods from arfs that are threaded on one end. Using 4 of those I could screw a 2-56 nut and washer on one end and bend the J hook on the other end .... ? (put a dab of CA or epoxy on those rolled threads along with the nut)
Thanks,
Ernie
