My second FF Taco (in polka dots)!
This is my second Taco FF. Unfortunately, the first one was destroyed because of some king of radio "f" up (possibly my fault). Anywho, this one is just like the last: Irvine .25, all Hitec HS-81s and a carbon rod archery blank for the spine.
I flew it today and almost crashed it. I think it is very assheavy although it seems to want to balance just behind the spar. I'm going to have to go over it with a fine toothed comb. Any suggestions for a VERY conservative balancing piont??? I almost had a heart attack today getting it back in.
Thanks,
Dan

Dan,
nice DOTS....or "dot's a nice airplane"
mine was the same way....moved the battery and receiver to far,far front of the wing...as far up in there as i could jam it...now flys great. i should have mounted my engine further forward. surprising how little weight shift affects this plane.

I think I probably have a little of both.
I moved the engine even farther back this time (used the Dremel to make some room for the fuel and pressure lines) so it is about touching the back of the engine mount. Also, I think I ended up putting a bit more epoxy in the tail this time.
I also have the throws at 1+ inches on low rates and absurd on high rates. That is not how I had it on the last one and I have learned my lesson. On the last one I had about 3/8 or less each way. That souns adequate doesn't it??
I'll have to reduce a bit on the dual rates and move the balance.
Thanks you guys!
Dan

Good advice from Hacker and John...
My first FF taco got real squirly when I had the cg back too far... Moved it up just 1/4" and it made a huge difference....
