Ed, I went back and re-read my post and saw that it did'nt make any since hardly at all. What I ment to say was that the Ucando needed the pump. The Saito I've had for a good while now and its well broke in. The OS91 I've already converted if over to a pump and since the tank is higher then the carb on the ucando the pump will come in handy.

I got the first 4 flights on my yak today and capthis flew it once. In summary, outstanding. Very pure slow high alpha KE with no roll or tuck with rudder, floats in like a feather for landing, It is the easiest plane to hang on the prop I have ever flown, you can almost get the hang established and completely take your fingers off the sticks. Power was very good. I was using the apc 15-4 W on my magnum 91 and it has tons of thrust. It would hang at about 1/3 throttle. pullout was good but the big prop is somewhat slow to spool up so it accellerates harder as it pulls on out. flat spins and inverted flat spins were good but would not quite stay in place without dropping a little. torque rolls pretty well but the wind had kicked up by the second flight and every time it did about 1/2 a TR the wind would stop it, but it hangs so easy it's not hard to keep up with it in the inverted hang. If there is a weak spot it would be in the harriers, spoilerons helped but the wings still rocked some, It would seem it needs very little elevator in harrier and I may have been over controling it, elevators were very good. Snaps are good and easily controlled and stopped. I even did a few rolling harrier circles with it (and Im not very good at that trick) No sitting on the fence on this one, buy it, build it, make yourself look good with it.

You could use a bellcrank arrangement to get the throttle servo to work correctly. Just mount it above the servo so that it'sin line with both servo and throttle arm. I saw someone else do this with the new ExtremeFlight Edge and it worked pretty slick.

After 6 nights and two Saturdays, mine is ready to cover. Unfortunately, our LHS owner is in Perry this weekend, so I have to wait a while for the covering. I still have to get an engine, and mount all the servos and horns, but the building's done. Bare bones weight with landing gear and wing tube is 51oz. That leaves me 61oz for everything else to make the 7lb target weight. How is everyone else coming out on weight?

Glad to hear the Magnum is working out good. I'm pretty much settled that that will be what I'm going to use, as soon as the wife OKs the purchase. Probably won't be for another month or so, though, darn it. I told myself I was going to take my time, but I couldn't keep my hands off it, so it's sitting, waiting on the engine.

Ok ive been meaning to get photos of my yak for awile but my crutches have made it difficult but here is a picture inside the clutters work room. Ill take a better picture outside later. Ended up weighing 6 pounds 15 oz when i installed the bigger battery pack and YS110. Cant wait to maiden:D:D:D

Get a real good flight report with that YS 110. That's the engine going on mine. Looks great. Just squeaked by the 7lbs.

Joebob. I used mpi 870 coreless servos, and the front edge of the motor is about a 1/4" back from the front of the mount.
Constrictor, how did you end up under 7 LBS. I replaced 5 pieces of wood I deemed to heavy, built as light as possible and mine came out 7 lbs 8 oz. did you use mini servos, Im using a 4.8v nimh batt with a tiny hitec 555 Rx as well to save weight. It is really no problem though at 7.5 (all up including prop spinner tank etc) It flies on a breeze and hangs well with the 91 2 stroke

Man oh man, I am hoping my comes in at 7lbs. constrictor, great looking scheme.
I am going to use Jr4721 on everything except throttle. throttle with be hitec 225. 6votl 1650mh Nimh battery pack. OS91FX w/ moosecan.

I plan on using mini servos to start off with.

HS-5245MG digital's on the tail and 225's for the aileron's and throttle.

Thanks for the great report. Check your lateral balance and make sure you don't have one wing heavire than the other. That can cause wing rocking. Also trying to harrier into crosswinds is tough to keep stable and I've noticed that rocking at times. In calm wind it is rock steady. Most all the stock built 65" Yaks are coming in right at 7 lbs with some 1-2 ounces lighter.

Blackie. It's just my opinion but I would not recommend mini's in this bird. I have them in my little ohio edge and they are pretty good but I have had a few problems as of late with the rudder servo, mostly my fault but I just dont think these servos have a big enough motor for the size of the control surfaces. Hitec 625's would be much better IMO

Hey there ya go. 605's in the ailerons and 645's in the tail. keep the mini at the throttle. run a 6volt nimh if youve got it for the extra speed. There again just my opinion but I sure wouldnt spend more money when you had those available

The Hitec 5475 is a good servo (I have several), much better in my opinion than the JR 811 (I have a few more than several), but it may be lacking in grunt for the tail of this plane.

I have been using a standard futaba 3003 on my elevator for 4 months without any problems. I stripped out 2 3003's on the rudder, switched to standard hitec carbonite geared one and have not had any problems with it.
