Kat 70 vs. MoJo 60

Well it's like this. I have an Ultra Stick 60 with a .61 FX and standards.

I'v decided to not stuff that motor into a smaller 40 size profile.

It's between the MoJo 60 and the Kantana 70.

I saw a comparison on *PB* between the two and they came out equal. I'm in a difficult situation right now and building is OUT of the question. If I took the MoJo route I'd have to get it built.

I think for K.I.S.S. purposes I should just get the Kat 70 ARF. I flew the smaller Kat and I know everone sais it's more agile. Is the Kat 70 still more agile than say a UCD? I know its better at 3D.

Thanks

Happy early 4th of July

While I prefer the Mojo, The UCD is not even in the same class as either one! I have had both and I liked the flight qualities of the Kat, I wasn't impressed with the build quality. I may be spoiled at this point because I have also had the EF Edge profile which pretty much set the bar in build quality. I still prefer the Mojo over the Kat though.

Spend a little more and get the Mojo .60 built. Swany's planes are so tough, it greatly decreases the pucker factor, allowing you to try stuff you probably shouldn't, and get away with it. The Kat .70 is a real nice plane, too, from all reports. Truthfully, I haven't flown either. I have a Mojo .40 and a Kat .40. The Kat flies nice, but it ain't no Mojo. Had one minor dork with the Kat, which resulted in fairly major repairs. I've dorked the Mojo about a hundred times, learning to torque roll 1 foot off the ground, where I learn all new maneuvers. The cumulative effect of all these dorks is about the same as the one dork with the Kat. Do you want to do major repairs after 1 dork or 100? :D

I have owned the Kat 70 and have many flights on this one and all it took is one flight on a mojo 60 to tell you it's a better flying 3D airplane. The Kat snaps a little cleaner and holds a line better but the mojo 60 is simply impressive in inverted and upright harriers. The Kat "might" have been slightly easier to harrier roll. The mojo will hold up WAY better than the V1 Kat 70

I have a 40 Kat and a Mojo 60. The Mojo is just so much better in every department and so strong.

I have flown both, you cannot go wrong with either. If you do not want to build go with the kat 70 as they are on sale right now for like 165 through accel.

Thanks guys for all the input. It looks like I'm gonna try and get a MoJo built. will a .61 FX and standards be all right in it? I have digitals on my UCD but they need to stay there.

If your going with the Mojo 60. I'd recommend some higher torque servos. Some cheap ones that would work are hitec 475's they've got 70+ oz. on 6V. I don't think standards would be wise. The control surfaces are pretty big...........

Personally i would go with the 625's those are the best servos i have used that arent digital.

The MoJo 60 is the baddest profile on the planet! The Big MoJo deserves the most powerful and fastest servo you can afford. I'm using four Hitec 945s You will be rewarded with exceptional 3D performance.

Trust me, once you get the Mojo built, you'll never fly that U-Can't-Don't3D again. Take the digi's out and sell it now.

If you aren't a fan of Hitecs like myself, check out the Futaba S3010. Something like 90 oz of torque on 6v and fairly fast. I still say go Mojo!

no well the digitals are staying with the saito 180 in case I get another fatty.

I think now I'm gonna just get a smaller 40 size ARF. My whole goal was to keep it cheap for a knock around plane. and if I get the MoJo I don't wanna cheat it on the servos. So I'm thinking I'm gonna try an Accel Kantana 40 for the .61 and see how it goes. Would an OMP Edge arf or Yak arf 40 size balance any better?

Thanks

They will balance about the same. Both designed with OS .46 in mind.

These Futaba S3010 look like a good deal, light (1.4) cheap (24.00), and 90 oz of torque .16 sec/60 deg. @ 6.0V I'm going to try these in my OMP Ultimate.

So let me ask this question in a different way.

Wahts the best ARF profile for a .61 FX and standards.

Probably not one right now except for the Kat 70. Only the V1 is available now, but as mentioned in the other thread, the version 2 will be available later this summer.
