Ball link
I've hear of people using ball link connectors. What are they and do the have advantages like less slop. Are there disadvantages. I suck a z bend and setting up push rods altogether. What ways do you guys set them. Just a zbend and clevis. Specifically I will be setting up a mojo and fliton extra.
Thanks Dan |
RE: Ball link
Here is a link to the Dubro ball links. The advantage of these is no slop but you have use threaded rods.

I also slid carbon tubing over the 2-56 rod to stiffen it up a little. 2-56 rods with plastic ends http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXD878&P=7 2-56 EZ link http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXAZC3&P=7 |
RE: Ball link
Your setup looks good and is what i have on some of my planes. Would ball link be even better though and if not are ez connectors or z bends better. I heard that flutter can really kill a mojo so i think i want a slop free setup. I just want have it set up the best it can be. Also would 4-40 rod be better. On my old profile ive actually bent 2 56 with carless handling. Also with what ever set up you recomend any tips for setting it up would be great. I'm only 15 so alot of my plane have been free or used. This will be my first kit and only my third time setting up pushrods besides my trainer and airfoilz.
Thanks Dan |
RE: Ball link
4-40 pushrods have much less flex than the 2-56 stuff, I’ve used the pushrods and the solder on ends below with good results they're just a little more work than the 2-56 stuff with the plastic ends.

I use these on my 33% Cap and I’m putting them on my 65” OMP yak when it’s done. Carbon Fiber phushod kits http://gallery.bcentral.com/GID50514...DS.aspx?page=1 |
RE: Ball link
Ball-links rule!
I used 4-40 Dubro ball-links on my Mojo 60 and there's not a sign of flutter (despite the lousy S3010 servos on ailerons). I've also used the 4-40 ball links on my 30% Extra 330L and that is totally slop-free (using HS5955TG servos) |

These are Du-Bro ball links. For a high deflection surface these do create a slop free no bind setup.

RE: Ball link
Also what kind of hinges do you use on profiles?

RE: Ball link
I use the CA hinges. If I need to buy them I buy the Great Planes ones. On the Fusion I used the supplied hinges.
