Default PST 1300

I recently became the owner of a used and refurbished PST 1300 turbine. I am a newby and my knowledge of turbines is very limited. I have a friend who has tens years experience with turbines and he assisted me in starting it up for the first time. What we found was we had to limit the upper rpm to 109 k because of what he called a compressor stall. What it sounded like was a puffing or popping sound which came more often as the rpm was increased.

What is causing this and can anything be done to rectify the problem?

When we did the test the engine had an unrestricted air intake to the engine. It did have a FOD screen in place which was removed to see if it was a problem.

Thanks

Hello B777

Thank You for answering my post.

The outside temperature was 19 degs. Celsius.

The altitude is 668 meters above sea level

The serial number of the turbine is 490206-0058.

The following are emails with regard to the service of this unit
Hello PST:

I recently purchased a used PST J1300R turbine, SN 490206-0058. I am wondering if you have any history on this unit ?

Also could you please tell me if a FOD screen is available and what is the price including delivery?

Thank you

This engine was originally sold to Mr. C,R**** on 11-02- 2006 and had been returning to us for bearing change by Mr. S, N****** on 26-3- 2008. I have not hear back from him since then.

FOD screen is available thru us. But some modification is needed on the bell mouth and front cover for neat installation. The price is 80 USD Plus shipping.

Besr Regards
Kumpol

Thanks Chippy

Hi Chippy,

Have you calibrated the system? Doing an Auto+High Speed while the engine is running (Please see user manual for this process). This porcess will teach the ecu to learn about the new environment and calibrate the fuel pump accordingly.

Regards,

Hello B777

Thanks for the reply.

If you are referring to page 21, we did set the minimum speed and also reduced the full speed to 109k. We did not do the Auto Set full speed.

I will try this and see if it makes any difference.

Thanks Chippy

Hello B777

I have looked for the Auto Set Full Speed and can not find it in my GDT. I have older software TEMS 3.37 instead of 3.39 and GDT 2.24 instead of 2.26. as outlined in the Manual dated V 1.2/2007.

Chippy
