I live near Amarillo Texas and have a few Q-40 models.
To actually watch or participate in a race I have to travel quite a ways.
I drive to Phoenix in February where there is a big Q-40 race. Around 80 modelers participate in a two day event. Persons from around the world participate in that event.
In the Houston area there are also several modelers that fly Q-40.
In the Dallas area there are some Q-500 races being held. I haven't seen any recent Q-40 events.

We had a Club 40 race here in Waco last weekend and Jason Duda brought one of his Q-40 Planes, it was F-A-S-T....... I have seen a few of them fly, but have never seen a race.
We went to the Giant Scale race in Ohio last year and it wAS a blast. There will be one in Texas this year. The last week in June I think is correct.
I think speed week in Muncie is in August?
Is there any club 40 interest up there, someone wrote the other day wanting to know if we would come up for a race?

There will be Q40 (AMA 422) racing at the NATS pylon field in Muncie, IN starting Wed at Noon July 14 - 16, 2010...2-1/2 days of strictly Q40. Before that, there will be Q500 (AMA 428) starting on Monday, July 12. Check the NMPRA website for additional race dates for these events.

Depending on the date, I would make a drive down there for some Q-40 practice.
Later in the season (after the October KRC race) would probably work better for me.
