Bench Racing Season Ends Midnight 4-8-06
Whew, made it through another season. Man, it knocks the stuffing out of me every year.
Tommorrow we have our first race of the year for our .46 class.
You boys in Iowa better come on up, the yard is going to be to soft for yard work.
Weather man says no rain. Let's go!
Yo, Diggs, Do you have our light ready to go?

Lights? I'm barely ready to race let alone fix the lights that were "too quick" .. Besides, I thought they put the nix on the lights and the 1 mississippi rule at the annual meeting..
I got one plane done all winter.. I'll have to drag something out of mothballs for a back up.. Been trying to finish the basement up and now that I'm close to being done, that's all I want to work on.. I have 3 Seekers in process but just haven't got around to finishing them.. I'm hoping to get them finished up next week so I can get them in paint.

Alright, I'll get it fixed for the next race..
Looks like it's going to be a bit nippy tomorrow morning.. Is there enough fire wood or do we need to bring some? Should be a good time, looks like it's going to be a perfect day.

Yeah, and it's a bit on stinky side when it burns.. I hope there aren't any EPA guys surfing RCU
I was going to take my car so I don't know how much I can fit in there without crushing planes... I'll see what I can find...

I wonder how Al's thing will go.
Hey world, what will you do when someone sets this thing down on your table for processing

I flew it Jess, definately quick. A little squirrly, but not too bad.
I checked the rules pretty good, and as a CD would allow it.
I'm actually thinking about building something similar.
Sorry Lee, but I couldn't resist. It's one of those things you only mess up once, but if it happens again, you may wreck something more than a helmet

I think Al's twin boom thing is legal by the current rules.. The only thing I could find is the statement about a box type fuse.. While the front is the back isn't, however I don't know that the rules say for how far it has to be a box...

Well I named it "The Hauler" since it was so well received at the meeting Some of our "leader" members called it a cargo plane So I thought Hauler would be a good name I have two of them now and maybe my partner will fly one also I flew up behind his Viper caught him and ate up his tail so I guess he can fly one if he wants

As to being a box, look at the tail of a Vortex, not very boxy, but very pointy.
That wasn't a viper you took out Al, it was a Seeker.
I will get my revenge tommorrow.

As long as the radius on he corners of the booms doesn't exceed .25", it's perfectly legal. Each of the booms is essentially a long, skinny box.

The hauler did well today, beating me in a heat, and also tying me for points (about 5th or 6th place or so).
Beautiful day for early April, 18 racers for racers for the event, an everything ran well.
Nice day.
Thanks to Neil who watched #1 all day, Jim who ran "mission control", and Carl who helped on #3 for most of the day.

John, I wasn't knocking the design at all.. Where did you get that idea?? I was just giving thought to what the rules states.. I flew against that thing once yesterday and it's plenty quick. However, the Seeker came out on top that time, one of my shining moments between midairs

Here's the Hauler designer, Albert S. holding his plane with Dave Norman.
I had a chance to fly it on he course after our first race yesterday. I flew very nice. It did not seem to be any faster than the best stuff there.
It held knife edge all day long, I want one

None taken... I've actually been playing with some fuse stuff that puts the "box" rule to the test but I don't want to bring it up here or all the guys I race with will be calling me a cheater... Again
Watching the "Hauler" go around the pylons was pretty neat.. It took awhile before I got rid of the "what the..." thought that ran thru my head everytime it went around the course.
