Anybody still know the recommended throws on the control surfaces of the good old Direct Connection Doddger Q500 plane from 10 years ago?
And if so, are those recommendations ok?

I just read the entine Crap Trap series from the hand of mister Dub Jett...
Are things really that dramatic with the racing sport in the US? Are you a dying breed?

I bought some stuff from performance specialties a month ago and the dude who owns it , Dave Shadel said the same thing to me.
Things like fast engines, $composite models$, and the space needed to run 160 MPH ships have hurt racing. But as anything else, nothing stays the same.
Locally in Minnesota we have worked hard lately to build a good base of competitors. Things like ARF Predators and same engine rule racing has helped us to hold on, for now...

I guess we were ahead of you guys on this one on this side of the Atlantic...
In our country the dollar race started too, but we tried to keep it reasonable.
Composites are not allowed in our Q500 races. Just plain balsa planes with foam or balsa wings.
The Nelson engine rules the Q500 event over here too however.
Noise regulations are becoming our biggest problem in racing.

control throws for the doddger are as follows'
standard and mid-tail
rudder start with full throws ,
elevator 1/4 in. each direction
ailerons 3/16 each way
v-tail
rudder start at maximum throw
elevator 1/4 up and down
ailerons 3/16 each way
these are a starting point only and adjustments need to be made to match flying style.
